Fairphone 4 - can't hear anything

Had a Fairphone 4 for several years, all working fine for calls, data etc.

Today, phone has gone silent. First noticed because could not hear a phone call. Checked, also no sound from Timer, or from a BBC Sounds programme. Volume is turned up and not muted. Not aware of having changed anything else, or any other problems.

Help would be very welcome!

No audio output from the phone

I’m suddenly getting sound output from neither the earpiece nor the speaker. This applies to everything: calls, media, alarms, notifications. Nothing makes sound through the phone’s own audio devices. I think these are two different speakers (right?), which suggests that the problem is in the software rather than the hardware? It would be strange if both broke at once and nothing else? However, if I connect the phone with an audio device, say my earphones or an external loud speaker, I get the …

In terms of troubleshooting, can you hear something using headphones or a speaker?
I know the internal testing is bugged unfortunately.

Thanks so much for getting back so promptly.

I’ve actually fixed it - just a hard switch off and on again - should have thought about that sooner! None the wiser as to the cause, but hopefully it won’t happen again.
