Sitrep:
She is travelling, and in Sydney, Australia, using a esim from Saily.
She was prompted and did a system update on her FP5.
After update she is asked for pin code, as usual. She enters her normal pincode, but it doesn’t work.
She realizes she had deactivated her normal sim card, and thinks it must be asking for a pin code for the Esim.
She hasn’t recieved a pincode from Saily, as the transaction and activation took place in their app. From net seraches it seems that another procedure outside their app is to recieve an email with a QR-code for activation, where the pincode is printed beneath.
Saily hasn’t responded so far.
And so she is stuck in Sydney without her phone working.
Any ideas solving the situation other than hope for the mercy of customer service at Saily?
remove the physical sim card, reboot the phone then put it back in again. It may reactivate the physical sim card and let her use the sim card code for that.
What exactly doesn’t work? The phone doesn’t accept the pincode entered, the phone doesn’t get a network connection or what are the symptoms of “doesn’t work”?
I don’t know how this is with those travel sim cards, but Australia has recently introduced a blocking of phones that providers consider incompatible with their non-3G networks. Depending on the network that Saily is using that might be an (additional) issue or not.
Those SIM Pins are both needed one after the other. I dont see a way to unlock the phone once the SIM Pin is required.
However testing on the FP4 with 2 SIMs @Troels_Chr_Jakobsen I see the option to deactivate the eSIM instead of entering the PIN, maybe this helps to at least unlock the phone?
