My eSIM stopped working over a week ago, I started off contacting my carrier EE, online, over the phone and finally in-store, they’ve assured me it is the phone (FP5). My esim would work for seconds after switching on, then become inactive.
I’ve emailed Fairphone, no response (the auto reply says it can take around 16 to 18 days!!) I can’t do live chat until tomorrow morning because they only do a couple of hours on two days a week (a bit pathetic). Now today I’ve lost all connectivity when out and about because my work physical sim card has stopped working. I’ve done the *#*#2886#*#* tester , it says ‘esim is nox’ and ‘Sim is not available’. (the simccard works in a different phone.)
The phone is still under warranty but I’m guessing given the time it takes to even reply to me, that it’ll also take an unacceptable amount of time to get it fixed, replaced, solved. I really liked the concept of the Fairphone, I even bought another one for my wife, but now I feel badly let down, even embarrassed to have given my money to a company that is clearly lacking the capability of offering adequate customer support.
I used Samsungs for about a decade and never had any issues, am currently looking for samsung options to replace my Fairphone as I use it for work on a daily basis.
Thanks for coming back, I just tried an O2 sim, still ‘No SIM - No Service’.
I’ve been waiting most of the week to try the live chat tomorrow morning. Do you know how long they usually take to repair a FP5 under warranty?
Sorry to hear your sim cards ar not longer working in your phone.
Repair and support response time dependent on where you bought your phone.
Most resellers respond within one working day. I will expect the reapar wil be done within two weeks.
for accurate informatie you will need to ask your reseller.
Fairphone seport have a average response time of 18 working days (live chat goes faster), i dont know about the repair time but expect it to be longer than two weeks.
Thank you for your reply, I bought the phone direct from Fairphone. The live chat sounds great but I need to be at work for the very few hours they are open.
Sadly (as I can’t afford it) I think I’m going back to Samsung as I just can’t wait. I’m very disappointed that my fairphone journey has ended after only 17 months instead of lasting many years. I’ll get this repaired (hopefully it’ll be back before May!!) then it can sit around being used for spare parts for my wife’s fairphone.
Both started to have SIM-issues recently, he stated a recent update caused issues. It is not exactly the same issue but it is quite similar (that’s what I said), so there’s a chance the cause is the same imo. Or am I missing something?
OT: I just wanted to make sure it is not disregarded premature in case there really could be a relation. I ain’t trying to convince anyone. I am trying to help, that’s why asked if I miss a thing…
Hello, I’m new on this forum, thank you everybody for the help!
If it is an issue related to FP update, maybe we’ll see more messages pop up on the forum in the next few weeks. Also I’ll keep an eye on the next FP update, who knows, maybe it could solve the issue
