Yes, I was roaming. I also saw Comvik, Telia and Telenor, but could not connect to their network. I wondered if it was linked to my home-carrier, but my wife (who has the same carrier) could connect to Telia on her Pixel.
I will make more tests next time I am in Sweden, but I look forward to hearing from other FP4 owners in Sweden.

I can now verify that after switch from Tele2 to Telia, my FP3 is back and fully functional:
On Tele2 Network it worked for datatrafic/SMS but not for phonecalls (but using Chattapp (Signal) for voicecalls worked). IMS was NOT registred.
Now on Telia network it is connected on the 4G net, with IMS registerd in *#*# 4636#*#*!
Regarding my Sons FP4 it is funtctioning without issues this far on Tele2 Network.

What country do you live in/which mobile network did you use for roaming? I’m trying to get a feel for how deep the problem runs. A few years ago I started warning regulators for the problems with VoLTE roaming and emergency calls and this may go on the list as yet another example.
I have a FP 3 and tested a couple of SIM cards after the 2G/3G shutdown. Maybe this helps someone. Here is the summary:
- Comviq (network: Tele2): No calls possible. The menu option to enable VoLTE/4G is missing.
- hallon (network: Tre): Calls possible after enabling VoLTE in the menu. However, the phone number of incoming calls isn’t shown (just “unknown number”). Hallon’s support just sent me a generic response that did not solve the problem.
- Telenor: Calls work and the phone number of incoming calls is shown (after enabling 4G calls).
- Vimla (network: Telenor): Same as Telenor itself, that is, everything works as it should.
- Telia: I’m using this on the second SIM card via roaming. For that, everything works as well. (Telia hasn’t shut down 2G/3G, but I enabled 4G calls for the SIM card.)
That said, I’m aware that emergency calling probably doesn’t work.
Interesting (frightening?) to see what happens Monday Feb. 2, since there are reports that as many as 60,000 phones might be blocked then. Remains to see whether FP3, 4, 5, or 6 are among them. As @marcelm has noted, and as experienced in Australia, it might be that a phone works with some provider but not with another. Also, as reported by @chrisse, visitors to Sweden from abroad might find that roaming won’t work.
Hi! My wife has an FP3 and I have an FP4. We are both on 3 (tre), and have no problems making or receiving calls. On the FP3, caller ID has stopped working, but when you get the ‘missed call’ text after, it indicates the correct caller. Caller ID works fine on the FP4.
I was actually here to check if caller ID works on the FP6 on Tre Sweden, but if it works with Hallon it should work with regular Tre, right?
I would guess so. However, looks that Hallon works better in some things that Tre doesn’t. Tre users report they cannot send MMS while I can with Hallon:
Thanks for this information. So neither the FP3 or the FP4 have been blocked by 3 after the Feb 2 deadline. That’s good news indeed.
Hopefully FP owners on Tele2 and Telenor will be able to report the same.
An unfortunate update (to put it mildly): Vimla informed me today that my FP3 is going to be blocked from March 16th because it does not support the requirements for making emergency calls. The same message came from Telenor directly on a friend’s FP3.
I also got this text today (using Vimla and FP3+) and was very surprised. I read through most of this thread and it seems that switching to Telia until 2027 or upgrading are my only options. Anyone found another option?
Got a response from Vimla and they seem to have gotten a new list of phones that do not work with emergency VoLTE. Anyone with if Telia will block the fp3 in Sweden?
My guess is Telia will block the FP3 when they shut down their 2G network sometime in 2027.
According to an earlier post here, FP3 worked on the 3 network as late as Feb. 2, but I wouldn’t be surprised if 3/Hallon will block the FP3 as well.
If we’re lucky, FP4/FP5/FP6 will continue to work in Sweden when all 2G/3G nets have been shut down. But looking at the Australian thread it seems as if anything can happen and that different providers handle the issue differently.
While in general that’s true, the difference with Sweden is that this is the European target market of Fairphone, so I’d at least expect more effort to get things right from Fairphone, too.
I have a FP3+ and had Vimla. When they shut down 3G my phone was blocked and I couldn’t use it on their network. I then switched to Hallon (on 3 network) and now everything works fine, except for that caller ID is not working. It tells me “Unknown” for everyone who calls me. I have tried a lot of thing to get this working but have not succeed yet.

When the network blocks your phone, does it block all network functions? Or only calls? I seem to have a similar issue in Sweden, but it’s only calls that don’t work for me:

Yes, that’s as expected, since Telia’s 2G network will remain active till late 2027.
What’s interesting right now is which models that are still running on the networks that are 4G only; 3 (Hallon), Telenor (Vimla), Tele2 (Comviq). Reports here (later than February) are a bit inconclusive. Some have reported that FP3 still works on 3, but not on Telenor. No reports regarding FP4, 5 or 6 so apparently they still work on all networks.

I am back in Sweden for a longer period. Last times I was here I didn’t bother to make tests.
So I am on a FP4 with CalyxOS (newly installed 7.2.2.0). I am roaming in Sweden. Data and sms work, but I cannot call or receive calls.
My operator thought that the problem came from a too old SIM-card, so they sent me an eSIM, which didn’t change anything. I am not allowed to use Telia or Telenor, so I just tried 3 and Tele2. Neither work. I would like to find someone with a sim card from a Swedish operator to make some tests. And I would like to find someone with a FP4 who could try roaming in Sweden with another Swiss operator on the same Swedish networks (Tele2 and 3). I wonder if the problem is with all FP4 users on all networks, or only on Tele2 and 3; or only for (some?) roaming users. I wonder if the fact that I am using calyx makes a difference.

Looking around (but all of this is above my paycheck), it seems that the problem is with VoLTE roaming specifically and not with all operators. I found this page from the UK operator 3 saying that the FP4 has VoLTE but not VoLTE roaming: VoLTE Roaming (4G calling abroad) No; VoLTE (4G calling in UK) Yes.

Yes, but support depends on your phone’s IMEI being whitelisted on Salt Mobile APN’s IMS core. If your VoLTE toggle is greyed out, it’s likely your phone is not in Salt’s VoLTE database, or your APN configuration is missing type: ims. Official support is best with newer Samsung, Apple, and OnePlus devices.
I will try to contact my provider to know if Fairphone 4 are in the database or not.
