I really hope the Fairphone 4 will be great. I’m a sustainability advocate. So I should use a Fairphone. But camera quality is something I value a lot. They are snapshots of memories. They must be of great quality without thinking too much about it. It would be super cool if an open-source variant of a software defined camera was available.

I tried the GCam port linked above as well, F1v10.3_7.0.009. On my Fairphone 3 the update from a few days ago is installed, so FP Camera 2.0.002. Just to add to the above, as there is no optical zoom all you get is an expanded version of the 12Mpx option, so it may narrow the view to a bigger image of but no real extra detail. The Nikita Camera app will allow such zooming up to 100 times effectively producing a 120Kb detailed image

Fairphone 3 Camera issue

F-Droid is an alternative app store, not a camera app itself. The camera app recommended is “Open Camera”. You should find it in both the Google Play Store and F-Droid.
