DNS over TLS/IPv6 issues- Apps don't load data over Wifi

That shouldn’t matter in most cases anyway, DS-Lite vs. Dual Stack is on the other (external side) of the router.

It seems that there are a bunch of related issues concerning IPv6 router advertisement. The relevant Android code (which is linked through the Google bug tracker issue above) is a state machine which handles WiFi connectivity state changes (including IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity) and there seem to be some bugs in that state machine. E.g. the RA lifetime 0 bug is quite silly, but something that easily slips through the cracks when a state machine is not very formalized.

Just adding my +1 to this. Seems pretty well diagnosed by the community here, so I don’t really have any detail to add. Here’s hoping for a prompt fix.

Hey all,

I’ve had this issue. Just changed the mac privacy from ‘Use randomized Mac’ and put it on ‘Use device Mac’ seems to have to resolved it for now. Dont know if it will stay, but maybe give it a try?

I ran ipv6 test run. Before it came back as broken, afterwards it gave me a 10/10.

Its in Network and Internet > Internet > Your wifi name > Privacy.

Let me know, will also report back

Edit: everytime I switch back to randomized mac it gives me a 0/10 score.

I have the same issue. Would have expected that this issue was solved after this update. But no, very disappointing.

So, I’m done with the Fairphone. I’ve ordered the Nothing Phone 3 and I’m sending the Fairphone back. It has too many bugs, unfortunately. Mainly this bug that wasn’t fixed in the last update. I’ve had the Fairphone for just over a week and I’m very dissatisfied. The call quality is terrible, the speaker is also very poor, the software doesn’t run smoothly, and the problem with the volume buttons falling out is already worrying me. I hope the problems are fixed quickly for all of you, but I’m saying goodbye to Fairphone. It’s a real shame, because the concept is actually great, but for the price, it’s a really bad phone. Sorry.

I tried that MAC fix, sadly it worked only for a few minutes…
I tried to change my DNS from standard to 1.1.1.1 but that also only worked for a few minutes.
Right now I’m completely lost, and at this point I’m getting desperate because I have to turn my wifi off and on again every five minutes.

Until this is fixed I have turned off ipv6 on my home internet router.

Just try the mentioned solution. You know, a vpn/dns app. 1.1.1.1 from Cloudflare, rethink dns from mozilla etc. use it for the time being.

It is insane how they shipped an update without adressing this.

I sold my FF6 after 3 months. Back to iOS on a refurbished 13 mini with a new battery.

Turning off the random mac address seems to work a little longer in my case. Still works this morning.

Edit: Well that did not last long. It’s borked again.

I’ve seen several suggestions, similar to this one, that just restart your WiFi. That last bit is the only workaround (without touching your router). A reboot or clearing the cache of some system apps also restart the WiFi. But the issue will just come back in about 10 minutes, more or less.

Same problem here, has been this way for a month. Seems a bit crazy to me that the wifi on the flagship phone is basically broken. Has anyone had their ticket answered? When will this be fixed? Does this fall under warranty?

It def lasts longer for me than 10 Minutes and helps with one App, where shortly disabling Wifi does not help.

That’s why I say that it gives or takes 10 minutes. I sometimes have a day where it seems to work fine. But maybe the WiFi just disconnected for some reason just before I need to use that one app that I gave that causes issues. I have these “low quality” WiFi issues since the past few updates where it then switches to 5G for a moment. But the WiFi is at full strength. Random MAC address is by the way a one time randomization, after that it remains stable per WiFi connection. It could still affect some software behavior though.

Restarting the router or the phone’s internet connection didn’t help, but disabling IPv6 on my router has fixed the problem.

While disabling IPv6 is really easy to do, it’s also very limiting, I would not really know which sites are IPv6 only.

No proper response yet. I placed remarks with messages here. Have seen one reply through my email account: switch WiFi on and off, this was before the recent upgrade. Nothing changed with that upgrade. Very disappointing.

Now, wirh a Nothing Phone 3, no wifi issues anymore. Same Network, Same FritzBox.

For now, also turned off IPv6 in the modem, a KPN ExperiaBox 10 with 3 SuperWiFi access points. No problems now.

Still, this needs to be fixed. Every other brand does not exhibit this issue. We have 4 phones in this household, only the Fairphone has issues with IPv6 enabled.

EDIT: I needed to switch IPv6 back on. Some sites just refused to work correctly. Ball is back to Fairphone now.
