Background music/video auto stops

Hi everyone!

As mentioned in the title, a while back I began having an issue with background music/videos stopping playing, rarely when doing something else on my phone, but quite often when the phone is locked. I think the issue is somewhat similar to this post, though on FP6, not FP5, and mostly unrelated to notifications.

I have deactivated the battery optimisations for these apps, hoping it would solve the issue, but no luck there.

Is this an issue with RAM usage? I would assume Tidal/Spotify/YouTube to not be so greedy as to cause this sort of problems.

I am running the Android (16) version, on the FP6.QREL.16.48.0 build.

Is anyone having such issues? What could I do to prevent it from occurring?

Thanks a lot!

I’m having the same / similar problem while listening to Geminis answers. As soon as the screenlock sets in, it stops reading to me. I made all recommended changes to the settings but with no change in the result. I’m using FP 6, Android 15 (I’m waiting 16 to be patched up before installing it). Any solutions dear community?

Fairphone is looking into the issue with backgroundapps being killed, so when granting unrestricted battery access does not help, at the moment there is no solution to this.

I am still experiencing these stupidly aggressive background app killings on my FP6. Is there a seperate thread discussing these issues for the FP6, because it feels weird that they only released a fix for FP5. I am still stuck with a malfunctioning phone…

Moved your post. The issue is not so widespread on the FP6, however FP is working on it. Did you ever inform support?

I have informed support on the 9th of May, and haven’t gotten any reply. I don’t feel like FP is taking this issue serious. There is no communication whatsoever. Let’s hope that you are right and that they are working on a fix. Hopefully, the fix will be easier as they have already been able to fix it for the FP5 it seems

Hi all, I have the same issue on my FP6, which I posted about here, where spotify will randomly crash. I previously thought it was related to notifications, but more recently it has been happening even without notifications coming up. Usually happens when my phone is locked, and usually when it’s playing out of the phone speakers, but sometimes when I have bluetooth earbuds connected. Thought I would post an update as well.

The background process management bug has been addressed in the latest software update for FP6 released three days ago.
