Android 16 for The Fairphone (Gen. 6) 📲 🎉

The framerate in Immich is low, perhaps 30 FPS. Not sure why.

We are not mind readers like you, my apologies.

It doesn’t change brightness in dark/bright rooms.

Hi. I’ve a problem here :

My phone is updating to Android 16, but it’s been stuck on the boot screen for over two hours, with the Fairphone and Android logos. Is this normal? Do I have to restart my phone ?

Edit : Okay, I restarted my Fairphone and everything seems to be working correctly.

I received, installed and used Android 16 without any problems.
I was really counting on desktop mode, but unfortunately it’s not available. It doesn’t say that desktop mode will never be released, but it also doesn’t say when it will be.

It cant be added by any software update, as the hardware needed does not exist, however this discussion is to be held in the following topic

Hi, after the update tonight the message keeps popping up that Android System Intelligence keeps stopping.

I still do not have any update. Is this normal ? Country: Austria

Not very happy with FP6 update to Android16 today. First there was the keyboard issue, which has now been solved, but now I am still stuck with several Apps that don’t open but only show white screen. Not happy, as I said.

Update seems to have gone well. The bottom row of my keyboard however is near impossible to use as it is covered now by the navigation buttons. Anyone have an idea to adjust this?

Restart your phone. That is the current workaround for it.

I swewr there was a discussion about this

Update not being available could be connected to your network as providers need to approve updates for some reasons. The FP6 in our family runs in the German 1&1 network and wasn’t offered the update yet, either while our FP5s in the Telefonica network basically always had the updates available immediately after release.

Worked like a charm.

Hi, from what I know, the “Advanced Protection” feature indeed blocks sideloading and causes issues with 3rd party app stores (like F-droid), however it is an optional feature that can be disabled in settings. You can read more here: Improve device security with Advanced Protection - Android Help

To me that article reads like “Advanced Protection” is opt-in, i.e. one would have to explicitly enable it.
But I guess that could easily be confirmed by someone who already did the update.

From direct experience this morning. Restarting your phone phone should take care of the keyboard problem. It did for me anyway.

Just checked after my update and subsequent restart to get rid of the keyboard problem I can confirm that advanced protection is not enabled by default.
