Android 16 for The Fairphone (Gen. 6) 📲 🎉

Is the increase in brightness on “Always on Display” and “Wake screen for notifications” intended or is it a bug? Before the update it was barely visible.

Update went well :+1:

Found a bug though: The setting for switching the Back/Last used buttons doesn’twork anymore.

The back button stays on the left side of the screen all the time.

Already noticed by Fairphone, see further up in this topic.

Possibly intended. I complained to Fp as a tester that the brightness was too low to see in day time. Could you test if it is less bright in a dark room?

Besides my problem with the 3 button navigation i experienced a glitch today for the first time: The whole screen went Fairphone-green for a glimpse of an eye. This felt kinda disturbing and I first thought I have issues with my eyes, but my partner looked at my phone in the same moment and also saw it. This felt very uncomfortable for the eyes for the next 15 minutes and I never had that since I bought the device in October.

The update went smoothly. The only thing I’ve noticed is that when I check the battery status, it says the battery was manufactured on January 1, 1970.

I’m switching back to my FP6 from my Pixel to test if the Android 16 update resolves the restart issue.

with screen scaling up the mobile network icon has a weird size

I also noticed the icons having different sizes.

This is known and was already partially fixed and the rest will also be fixed

Is there any way to force the update now? I don’t really want to wait a few weeks.

Just got the update this morning. So far so good.

I was hoping to see a toggle for Adaptive Refresh Rate in settings after the update. Is that still WIP?

I think that’s an Android 16 thing, also pixels have the same issue.

I might be wrong though.

As far as I know, adaptive refresh rate has been available for the FP6 since launch (apart from a short period where it wąs bugged and didn’t work properly) and is always active. I don’t think there are plans for a toggle to disable it.

Hmm, then maybe something is wrong with my device. Or maybe I misconfigured something. IDK. New topic here in case you have any tips for me: No Adaptive Refresh Rate option

The back animation bug with third party launchers like Lawnchair is fixed. It’s not perfect but it shows a slide animation instead of frozen screen for half a second like it used to on Android 15.
