FP6 Discussion about USB-2 and missing Desktop Mode

I am certainly not saying that Fairphone shouldn’t have included USB3.2 on the FP6. It would have been nice indeed. But honestly all the critics about this lacking seem a bit too much. The FP6 is still an expensive device but it is much better priced than previous fairphones (something many people did critic in the past). They had to cut costs here and there to achieve this and this got us USB2.0 instead of 3. Now Fairphone is not the inly manufacturer to do this. Take for example the immensely popular Galaxy A56: same thing, stuck with USB2.0. Nothing phone 3a is the same. These phones are cheaper than the FP6, but they are also much less open and provide nothing with respect to repairability etc. Yet no one seem to be this critic about them also using the “old” USB2.0 standard. I’m personally pleased with my FP6. It did cost about 100 euros more than a Galaxy A56 when I bought it and I think this overprice got me the ability to install custom roms, have better repairability, 8 years of software support and a phone produced in fair conditions by a European company, with more or less the same perfs as an A56 which also lacks wireless charging and is limited to usb 2.0 as well. So Fairphone is clearly not alone in these design choices. Sounds like fair enough for me. I can totally understand your frustration but for me the specs are ok. And if I ever one a desktop mode at some point, I would install Ubuntu Touch as this can do it even wirelessly. Just my 2$
