Since the latest update (Android 16), I’ve been having an issue with the 2x zoom on the main camera. When I take a photo with this zoom, the image is cropped even further than the preview. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Same here, the image is cropped in both vertical and horizontal orientation

I cant reproduce this with stock camera App.
It happens more often in landscape mode, but it’s not actually systematic even for me

Hello, I had the exact same issue with the 2x zoom on the main camera cropping my photos even more. Deleting the storage space & cache in settings/apps/camera app fixed this issue for me!
I have the same issue. Noticed it happens when I zoom more than 2x and then return back to 2x. After that, all my 2x-zoom photos seem to be cropped/zoomed. Restarting the phone solved the issue for me temporarily, so did deleting storage&cache (but that also resets any changes to the settings).

Yes, same here. I turend of every auto enhancer and ai setting but it still does not work…
Same here. Cleared cache and everything, still some photos seem to get randomly cropped. It’s not a rare issue either, the 2x camera is basically unusable for me. I’d say most pictures I take suffer from this issue since the update.

I have the Same Problem …i reported it the support.
I’ve discovered (what I think) is a way to get around this problem, for the time being. If you switch from the photo mode to the pro mode, but keep all the pro settings set to auto, it’ll function like the regular mode but the random cropping will not occur. I took almost fifty photos yesterday like this and none of them were cropped.
I can confirm that the issue immediately started happening again when I switched back to the regular photo setting.
With this AI scene detection is off, and this might be one root cause for this. FP is already investigating
I can believe it. For what it’s worth, AI detection is already turned off for me in the regular photo mode.
Seeing the same thing on FP6, latest OS.
Only seems to be when using the volume button as the shutter though! I’ve only seen it when on 2x photos.
I never use this, so thats most likely not the root cause… I rather think its AI scene detection/too aggressive software picture composition. As mentioned using Pro mode might do the trick and this turns off AI secene detection as fa as I know.
I can reliably trigger this bug by setting the flash to torch mode and zoom to 2x. Every picture will be cropped and turning off the flash without touching anything else fixes it.
