When I try to enable the mobile hotspot on my Fairphone gen 6 (running Murena’s e/OS/) it turns off right away. USB tethering works fine. The mobile hotspot worked before, but it “broke” when I switched the frequency from its default value (2.4GHz) to 6GHz. Anyone else with this issue?
I’ve tried to return the setting to default an restarting the phone. Unfortunately it still doesn’t work.
I found a workaround:
Restart your phone, then set the “Speed and compatibility” to either 2.4 or 5GHz, and set the Security to WPA2-Personal. Then you can turn on the mobile hotspot again without errors.
Other combinations do not seem to work…

I don’t see any open /e/OS hotspot issues at the moment at Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab, so in case you want the /e/OS developers to have a look at it, please feel free to report the issue … Report an issue.

Same problem as described by @Sambouwer here :
Hotspot switches off immediately, even with Sam’s settings
Didn’t find a working combination of options yet…
FP6, /e/OS 3.1.4 (a15-20250915…)
For me, the main issue turned out to be with the security protocol (WPA2/3). The original issue was resolved for me with the 3.1.4 version of /e/OS, though… WPA3 over 6GHz is working fine now.
@UlrichN did you try 1) restart phone 2) set security to WPA2-Personal 3) set “speed” to 2.4GHz 4) restart phone again 5) check hotspot settings and turn on hotspot if it is still set to WPA-Personal and 2.4GHz?

Thanks a lot! Looks like the second reboot did the trick: Now the hotspot remains switched on.
btw: with virtually any setting, e.g. WPA3 and 5 GHz work as well
