Same problem here with FP6 since the last update. 
I am also experiencing this issue for the FP6. The solutions I’ve read do no suffice. Hopefully the developers take notice and will fix this bug. It’s getting annoying.
I think the issue is fixed after a Google Play System update. Check manually.
Same issue here on a Fairphone 6, since update FP6.QREL.16.111.0.20260831102426 (the one that fixed the DNS/IPv6 wifi problem). Before that update roaming worked fine.
My setup:
- FRITZ!Box 4040 as mesh master
- FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX upstairs, connected via LAN cable (LAN bridge, confirmed in the mesh overview)
- Mesh steering enabled on the FRITZ!Box
What happens:
When I walk from the FRITZ!Box to the room with the repeater, the phone stays connected to the FRITZ!Box. Wifi then shows “Low quality” and the phone switches to mobile data. It does not roam to the repeater. Only after the wifi connection drops completely does it connect to the repeater. If I reconnect manually, it immediately picks the repeater and the quality is good. So the signal itself is fine, the phone just doesn’t roam anymore.
What I tried, without result:
- 2.4 GHz only, a separate 5 GHz SSID, and one SSID for both bands
- Private DNS off
- “Mobile data always on” off in developer options
The only workaround that helps is turning off mobile data at home. I have also opened a support ticket. It would help if other FP6 users with this problem also contact support, so Fairphone sees it’s not an isolated case.
