Wifi tethering not working anymore

Hi everyone,

Last week I noticed that wifi tethering was not working anymore on my FP5 (build number FP5.VT28.C.042.20250623.). It was working consistently by the end of july/beginning of august, as I was making use of this functionality pretty much daily at the time with my ebook.

By “not working”, I mean that I can enable the functionality on my FP5, connect to the SSID as usual (tested from my laptop and my ebook), and get an IP address in the 10.145.243.0/24 range. But beyond that there is no network connectivity.

From my laptop, trying a name resolution with “dig www.google.com” and the default DNS resolver (10.145.243.254) end up with a “status=REFUSED”, which means that the embedded DNS resolver service on the FP5 is running but somehow refuses to serve my DNS request.

Still from my laptop, trying a “ping 8.8.8.8” or “ping 1.1.1.1” ends up with a “network unreachable” network. That indicates some kind of routing failure at IP level. Hence, can’t make use of any third-tier DNS resolver.

From my FP5, I used Termux to run a “dig www.google.com @10.145.243.254”. That also serves a “status=REFUSED”.

I suspect that is related to the last FP5 update, but I don’t remember when this update arrived on my phone, so I can’t be sure.

Anyone facing this issue on his/her FP5 ?

Cheers,

Vladimir
