all of a sudden, (the FP6+ requested a reboot because of this google play system update yesterday) i have serious trouble calling and being called when wifi is turned on.
calls with wifi being turned off work normally.
when i briefly (few seconds) turn wifi off and back on i can make calls and receive calls again for a while, then phone calls die down, they never make the call outwards and i can not be reached ppl tell me.
is this maybe a similar situation back on the FP5 some months? ago when there was this similar? google play system update trouble causing the wifi degraded or poor situation and what not, turned out to be the google play system update stack back then as the reason for those problems, right?
only started for me yesterday after the reboot. it was fp6+ before and the same august security level but some earlier play systems update level (even though the date of that hasnt changed, odd stuff lately coming from google android, i wish i was seeing somewhere the real build numbers or stuff to differentiate )
Are you using WiFi calling? Is changing the network setting bringing any difference? Like 5G/4G, etc?
How old is your SIMcard? Could you run any troubleshooting via the MyFairphone app?
Generally, you use WiFi-calling when 5G/4G is unavailable or unreliable. So, would not call this a valid workaround.
Meanwhile, I tested myself on FP6: Installed the Play Update of August 1st 2026, forced all settings to WiFi calling. I have DualSIM so tested with both an eSIM and a Physical SIM. Everything works for me.
I must say, @Spongebob pointed to the DNS over TLS/IPv6 issues- Apps don't load data over Wifi - #602 by Spongebob — I have my personal workaround (one of the many variants) for the IPv6-issues. So maybe my IPv6-workaround covered that it works in my case. I can’t turn off the IPv6-workaround because WiFi doesn’t work anymore (the issue FP tries to solve) without it.
wifi calling, thats why it’s in my subject of this thread, i explicitly have to turn it off to have stable calls. have left it turned off since yesterday. i dont understand the questions, i had thought i already posted all the information.
the sim card is a few years old, works normally. i have 2g explicitly disabled and other than that all thr LTE 4G 5G are enabled)
