Introduction
I’ve just put together a nice little debloater for the Fairphone 3. The script can be ran on Linux, Windows, MacOS and basically any other UNIX-like OS.
Fist of all I want to apologise for the messy instructions and for my bad english. I hope that you understand everything. If you need help or have questions please ask them here.
What does the script do?
Limits Google apps (even replaces stuff like the dialer or the clock)
Removes Qualcomm spying/“TeLeMeTrY”
Replaces the YouTube …
Here’s my current take …
I try to walk a line between de-Google-ing the phone while keeping the basic Google Mobile Services (GMS, for OTA updates of the OS and some Play Store Apps I still have as APKs for installing) and the Play Store itself (for updates of remaining Google components) from breaking, even if I try not to use my Google account for now.
I’m not a big fan of installing downloaded APKs from some website without an automatic update possibility which stores like e.g. F-Droid prov…
It’s not possible to get rid of “all of the Google stuff” this way, and all Android OSes are based on Google’s work, which makes this pretty hard to achieve anyway.
If you can live with some background stuff still phoning home, LineageOS is a start, as it doesn’t include all the Google Apps and services which come preinstalled on Google certified stock Android OSes.
If you want to take further degoogling steps, you may want to have a look at what /e/ do (they take LineageOS as a base and degoogle it further) … /e/OS product description - a pro-privacy mobile operating system and cloud services .
