I’m having trouble finding a 2TB SD card that is compatible with UHS-I. Can everyone recommend a product and/or add a link to the shop where I can buy the compatible card please.
This is a very reliable brand. I once had 1TB Extreme pro in my FP5 and Nintendo Switch. Then they released a 1.5TB version I upgraded to. Then a month later The 2TB just had to release. Now I’m currently saving up to get 5 of these to replace my current ones in 3 phones (Samsung Galaxy S20FE, Fairphone 4, & Fairphone 5), Nintendo Switch, and as an extra backup one following the 3, 2, 1 rule. 3 copies of your data, 2 types of media, & one off site. I just don’t like seeing it on sale and then seeing it sold out when going to buy it. There needs to be a way to get more internal storage in phones. 64gb is still the norm for iPhones. That’s just big enough for apps. 256gb isn’t enough for apps that generate a lot of data like for video editing and AI stuff. I wouldn’t mind seeing a 1TB Fairphone however unlikely going to happen. Getting this would actually be enough for all my media and family videos to be safe in case of a disaster. That isn’t enough for other things like my Steam & iTunes Library’s though. Just food for thought and my opinion as to wich one to buy for backup purposes like I do.
Here is the USA link to the page on Amazon.

Thanks Digimon for your quick reply. I like to store a lot of music and movies on my phone and am always looking for ways to increase the capacity of the storage. This SD card seems very expensive and up to 200% more than most SD cards out there. Is there a cheaper alternative that you could suggest?
Any 2 TB microSDXC card at a significantly lower price than the one @Digimon posted is almost certainly counterfeit.
Thanks urs_lesse,
is microSDXC the same as UHS-I?
No, the first one stands for size and capacity range, the latter one a speed category.
Thanks for this Incanus
That’s fake, for sure. It should look like a SanDisk microSD card, but look at the retail price:
Have a look at this topic as well
Thank you everyone. it looks like I’m going to have to spend some cash to get a SD card that works
You actually don’t need to pay much attention to the UHS speed, it does not impact compatibility (just speed, as Incanus already said). UHS-I just means it’s the slowest type, and the FP5 will work with UHS-II and UHS-III, but just at UHS-I speed.
And regarding costs, you need to figure out if you really need 2 TB (that is almost 8 or 16 times the capacity of the FP5’s built-in internal storage). At lower storage capacities like 512 or 1 TB, you will currently get a better storage per price ratio. 2TB is the maximum an SDXC card can offer, and currently still has the most expensive storage per price ratio.
Thanks guys, I don’t suppose a 2TB Lenovo, Samsung or SanDisk for Nintendo switch SD card would work? Sorry, I’m just trying to save money and these cards are cheap (like me!).
I’d really like a 2Tb card urs_lesse, as I’m going away for 3 months and I’m not taking a laptop.
I really don’t think you can get a compatible 2TB micro SDXC card for significantly less than what Digimon suggested. I had several 2TB cards on watch on Amazon for quite a while and Digimon’s offer showed up at by far the cheapest price during Black Friday week.
Make sure you buy from a really trustable dealer based in your own country. SD cards are super-popular for scam offers and counterfeiters whose product will usually just bear a high capacity label, but quickly turn out to include just a tiny fraction of the stated capacity. And pay attention to the micro prefix (this is about the form factor/size).
Yet another thing to mention here is that they stopped using UHS-3 cards with special busses on the back. They seemed to just use the main micro SD data bus instead. Explaining Computers did an awesome video on the subject. Link below timestamp of 6:50 in video explains the extra pins.
However i would like to make an honorable mention to cloud storage. They say its limitless, but apparently they are to running out of space to store the data for people. I wouldn’t trust them anymore if this is the case for important data. Link to what im explaining below.
Edit: USB flash and SD card scams have been around for quite a while. That extreme pro is fake because they haven’t released a version of that 2TB card yet. Its more likely a 32gb card in disguise. Don’t be fooled by it. Link below for a video by Linus Tech Tips on these scams.
Edit 2: just searched for that card and found a legitimate listing on Amazon. It wasn’t there a week ago.

Thapt 2TB sandisk is cheaper than 1TB i was looking at sandisk.com before xmas in uk. You could always subscribe to said website’s newsletter as they might tell you the offers they have, or/and check site as they could have sales on round this time period.
I would also recommending reading about SD cards on wikipedia if u want a better understanding.
Happy New Year for 2025.
Ps i think SanDisk are owned by WD (Western Digital)
No not anymore its now their own brand. Western Digital tried to sell it with no success. So they spun it into a separate company. I wonder if the brand is struggling financially like a lot of other companies out there. I saw it on a tech-linked video a while ago. If I find it. I’ll edit this post to reflect that.
Found a similar video on the subject
i have an update for you. If you can hold off on the 2TB and wait a few months. A 4TB version of the Micro SD is slated to have a 4TB version. While the regular is going to have 8TB under UC class cards. The first of this kind. I found out through this video.
Side Comment: Even though this 4TB model would be enough for all my media for sure. This still isn’t enough for backup purposes as my iTunes library itself is 4TB on its own. And my Steam Library is just over 1TB of content. Understanding apple just forcing iTunes users to Apple TV has me worried of all the offline content stored on a raid. If there was a legitimate way to just have it everywhere I go would be nice if disaster strikes. Then I can recover my data off the SD card on a new setup no problem. Storing data like this would indeed be nice for not having to pay for unnecessary cloud subscriptions. And just Having a NAS right at home means no latency, lag, or even Downtime. It would have been nice for the 8TB version to be micro SD. But its still years away. This is all just my opinion as more and more wildfires plus other disasters continue to get worse because of climate change. All those memories are valuable with all those hours spent watching content and gaming. I’d sure hate to lose it and become dependent as if the service will still be here down the line. That’s the digital future I’m afraid of in a nutshell.
Anyone know if SDUC cards would be usable/compatible in any Fairphone at all?
Fairphone’s Support article does not address this. While it states the SDXC standard maximum of 2TB as the ceiling for the FP5 and FP4, it also states a lower capacity of 400 GB for the FP3 while I am currently using a 2TB SDXC card in my own FP3.
Thanks for this. After 2 days of transferring music from MediaMonkey onto my FP5, the cheap SD card has become corrupted and I’ve lost everything (again).
I’ll hold off buying the SanDisk extreme PRO until the 4TB comes out.
