Whatsapp not working

My WhatsApp suddenly isn’t working on my FP6. I tried clearing the cache, force stop, update, then uninstall and reinstall and also have the new Fairphone system update installed. Can anyone help? Basically it just won’t open and constantly crashes.

How much free memory dose your phone have and do you possible use a SD card? If yes as internal or removable memory?

256GB free…no memory card

In fact, clicking on WhatsApp makes the phone freeze, until I lock and unlock

Did you copy old data from your previous phone or started the FP6 from scratch? Other apps are working with no problems?

I copied data over, but it’s been working fine for months. Got the phone in October…yes other apps working fine

This may be an effect of the IPv6 problem.

Try turning Airplane mode on then off (this sort of restarts the Internet connection) or using Mobile data.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried, but unfortunately no change

That’s not possible, since 256 GB is the size of total storage, and system + apps probably uses at least 40.

I should have suggested turning Wi-Fi off then on, assuming that you’re using Wi-Fi.
Also I suggest only turning on Wi-Fi or Mobile data.

Oops sorry I mean 116Gb Free

What I found is that several apps have trouble opening and becoming active if I’m using WiFi. That started with the update to Android 16. Maybe that’s why whatsapp won’t work.
