What to do with an Fairphone 2 and spare parts

I received back my old Fairphone 2 + spare parts that a friend have been using until a couple years ago.

It seems from browsing around that now there is no updated OS available for it?

When powered it up, I noticed he had never updated it since he got it from me, still running Murena 0.2 something… Updater said 1.8 was available, but when trying i learned all Murena FP2 software have been pulled. Browsing around it seems that was the last option?

Anyway, if anyone is interested, i have:

One FP2 with upgraded camera - OK except it is missing front half of case (that rim around edge of screen.) Battery seems very good: my USB charger meter said it received 2800mAh 5V when charging, phone off, so Call capacity should be slightly more than 3 Ah, guessing some current gain in phone switching converter minus battery losses.

Spare parts: Screen, unused screen protector, one old type camera, one new type camera, battery (capacity about 2/3 of the other one), and defective main unit (I believe only problem is it do not drive the display (display works when mounted on the other main unit, but some hours after i booted it it let me hear the wake up alarm, so it runs)

No scratch on any screen, no bulging on any battery. Impressing that both battery had voltage despite the long time without use nor charging, even the one that was in the phone. What quality!

Do someone have good use of something?

If so i need some help about how to clear all user data, also from the half broken one of one wants it (via USB port and Linux?)

Else I ponder converting my head lamp from 3xAA to FP2 battery - I obviously have two good batteries and two … advanced… chargers… (and i have cell protector cirquits and know electronics)

thanks to [LEGACY_BUILDS] collection for /e/ OS supported “legacy devices”
there are “community” and “LEGACY” android 11 based, latest builds available for the FP2
IMG-e-2.2-r-dev and IMG-e-2.3-r-LEGACY for a fresh install running fastboot install-script (you loose /data),
and also e-2.3-r-LEGACY for upgrading existing /e/OS from recovery mode

factory-reset must be possible from settings or from recovery mode

OK thanks! At least that is less old. And available.

Yes, but to clear the one with broken display driving… maybe i can clear some user data when connected to Linux PC? (I can use it as battery charger if it stops sounding the alarms…)

Hi, I’m very interested in all your FP2s and parts - particularly batteries. Are you in the uk, or eu? Would you accept £30 payment to include post&packing

I am in Sweden, south east corner, Kivik. Where are you?

Right now I am thinking I will keep the complete one to be used as audio player for a vintage hifi amplifier and set of big loudspeakers my neighbour gave me the other day.

So for sale is the one with defunct display interface (display itself confirmed working on the other base), one battery pack, no back side nor rim, old original camera.

Battery shipment laws… what is the status here?

We are not allowed to ship batteries/cells in normal transports.

But this is a battery pack, complete with some casing and protection circuit. It is not a loose cell. Technically it is safer to ship it separately (well packaged) than in a phone that could experience electrical problems…

Sigh, laws… … anyway…

I believe at least it is OK to send battery by post when inserted in the phone (I wrap tape around it), but it depends on country it passes etc, and also energy capacity ?

Hi, I’m in the UK. Does the ‘battery pack’ incorporate an original Fairphone 2 battery? If it does, then I offer €10 +postage for the 2nd unit plus batteryPack.
