What does this Android symbol mean?

I have a new Fairphone 6 and Im wondering about a symbol on the Android status bar, near the wifi and connection icons. See attached image. It sort of looks like the Wifi Calling icon when I Google on it, with a phone receiver on a circle with small dashes above it, and the circle is a bit pointed to the upper right. But I have not seen an exact icon like this anywhere. And most important, it’s always there even when I have Wifi Calling and Wifi itself turned off.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Fairphone Community.

This seems to be the symbol for VoLTE.

Okay, maybe so. But what does it say about VoLTE? Is it enabled, disabled, broken …?
Why is there an icon needed for it?

It’s definitlly the symbol for WIfi-Calling. Switching VOLTE on/off has no effect of the appearance of the sysmbol. Only I switch Wifi-Calling then the symbolg goes off/on. Appearance means WIFi-Calling is enabled. And for me the symbol disappears correctly if I turned Wifi off.

That it is working.

Im not the developer, so I can’t tell, why they found it necessary or helpful.

No, that looks different.

I think thats a question for the provider I never had this symbol on any FP

It’d be nice if there was an illustrated list of icons and what they indicated.

I realize now that when I enable Wifi Calling, the symbol changes slightly, to a similar icon without the pointy part. See attachment.

So yes, it seems to indicate Wifi Calling on and off. I’d prefer it to go away, but it’s okay,
