Weird ghost inputs with wired headphones and the FP USB-C - AUX dongle

So it’s nice that fairphone wants to be sustainable and all that, but I get the sense that the USB-C port is just not sturdy enough for daily use of wired headphones. Two months of casual but frequent music listening with it in my pocket and it’s already starting to glitch out constantly.
These headphones do not even have buttons, but the FP4 constantly thinks it’s receiving inputs to change the volume, play/pause, and skip songs whenever the USB-C/AUX dongle is inserted.
What do I do here?
I already tried removing and reassembling the USB-C port, in case a contact was loose, but that did nothing.
Should I try to replace it with a new one? Or try a better aux adapter? Or just accept that smartphone manufacturers want us all to not use wired headphones anymore?

:pensive:
I’m guessing there’s already a stack of complaints about it somewhere, but I’m going to yell into the void and say I really wish they’d bring back the aux input. Sure you want to save real estate, but that’s much more useful than a wide-angle camera if you ask me.

Would the display be on in your pocket? Those controls are usually on the audio widget on the lock screen so maybe they’re being controlled by the movement of your pocket as you walk? Same for volume buttons on the side. I’ve the same USB C input and wired headphones for about 18 months now with no issues, thankfully. Yours sounds like a nightmare!

No, it has nothing to do with my screen or volume buttons.
It’s because of the connection between the USB-C port and adapter.
