Hi, i am seeking android phone which would support external UVC usb camera in a same way than the it is supporting the internal ones over Android Camera 2 API. Ie. you could just plug the usb-c webcam and it would be visible in the default camera app or OpenCamera without need to install any specific app for UVC cameras.
I think that it is possible to do with the rooted phone and with custom ROM’s so Fairphone 4 seems to be a good option for that. However, I would like to know if this would work out-of-the box without any customization?
Just tried a small craptacular made-in-china cam that used to work with my android 7 device. on FP4 no stock camera nor OpenCamera detect it there. I have not yet rooted my phone.
If AvE from youtube says this way, so will I. What does it mean? $generic_chinese_crap_brand_name I hope that helps. Most people would just get the message. Stop looking for racism where is none. Get over it.
But to entertain you specifically:

Btw, think that following cameras are used as test devices for Androids External USB Cameras HAL if somebody wants to do testing with devices with “most formal support”.
I just plugged in my C920, as it happens I have it - through c-hub that works with my FP4 and monitor/usb mouse/kbd - no luck on camera with stock app nor OpenCamera. Still unrooted, as I wait for official images in case I screw it up
