USB connection not working

Only charging works - when attempting to switch it fails.

Welcome! Can you elaborate on what exactly fails and how? Did you try different cables, USB-ports? What OS does the host-system have? Windows? Ect.

I have only tried one cable so far…

Directly to pc, ubuntu linux.

Same problem here since months…no system update solved the problem.
Even the Tethering USB is not working…it’s like the USB port is sleeping.

I tried a lot of different cables…nothing changed

Tethering USB was actually one feature i required so i tried /e/OS a long time on an old device to make sure it worked as required - must say i was quite dissapointed to find out tethering not working on FP5 at all. Now with this, well as a Linux admin i always find workarounds but got lazy over the years and just want things to work.

What do you attempt to switch and what do you want to do? It looks as if you didnt use a data cable.

Did you ever report to support? Else I’'m not sure how it should be fixed, although I’m not sure its fixable by an update as no common issue.

I tried disassembling the phone, I cleaned very well and with cleaner specific for electronic circuits and now it works! At least I didn’t try Tethering USB but at least my Fedora is able to list the FP5 in the File Manager
Tomorrow my new USB port should arrive, I start thinking that the problem is mechanical in the plug
