USB Charging and Sound broken / only charges to 75% / no sound after charging

Hey there.
I noticed my FP5 not being able to do some USB stuff consistantly, like Android Auto would always disconnect and I could not transfer files.
So I ordered a replacement part and changed the USB part.

Now I have another issue.
Charging the Phone only works when the USB-C Cable is entered in a certain orientation.
So I thought “okay, I messed up the new part. Lets change it back to the old one, that one at least charges consistently.”

Now here is the weird part:
Swapping the parts back around did not change anything.
But now, the phone will still only charge in a specific USB-C orientation, but also, it will only charge to around 70-90%. It’s not the battery protection option, that one is disabled. I triple checked.
And it’s very inconsistent, sometimes the phone will charge even up to 100%. But mostly it’s around 75-85%.
After it reaches that point, when I disconnect the charger it will not charge again for quite a while.

And this is where it gets really wonky:
After charging the Phone, Audio will not work. At all.
The phone will say “wired headphones” as it’s audio output, so I believe the USB Port things some accessory is connected.
Rebooting the phone will fix all of these issues until I charge it again.
I tried resetting the phone, but it did not work.
My next thing to try would be to look at the USB-C jack connection point closely and inspect it for damage, and maybe flash the phone with the bootloader as to get rid of any OS glitch that may have snuck in a faulty update.

Does anyone know what can cause all of these issues?
I haven’t heard back from support yet.

Edit: Opened the phone up and looked at the contacts for the USBC Part, they look completely fine. Spotless even.
I really hope it’s not an issue with the core module, somehow. (water ingress maybe?)

Could just be a cheap cable. Some of them aren’t manufactured to USB standard and are not reversible. Another possibility is a dirty connector in the port (unlikely since you’ve changed it) or the cable.

Likely the same cause.

and dirt. Yes do that. Contacts may be poorly aligned.

I recommend you get a new good quality cable and put back the new port. Use the new cable with the new port.

Agree with the above. Get a high quality cable. Early cables were not to the USB-C spec, incorrect or missing resistors.

If it only were this easy.
I have quite a few cables lyring around and tried most of them at this point.
Fell into an USB rabbithole a while ago and got some high quality cables. Those include some that are actually fully USB-IF compliant, with certificate and all.

I did find out that the Audio issue goes away by itself a few hours (?) after disconnecting the USB-Cable. But I was able to reproduce this issue with any combination of cables, power supplies, and with a direct connection to a laptop.

Still waiting to hear back from the Support
