Hello, when I first set up my phone three years ago, I configured some settings, but unfortunately, I no longer remember how to access them. I blocked the downloading of MMS messages and mobile data usage to avoid exceeding my data allowance. Even with Wi-Fi, now, I can’t download MMS messages. Today, I’d like to revert to these settings. Do you know how to do this, please? I have a Fairphone 3+.
To enable MMS even if Mobile data is disabled, go to
Settings > Network and Internet > SIM Profiles > [your operator] > MMS
You will only see the MMS setting if “Mobile data” setting is Off.
In French that would be
Paramètres > Réseau et Internet > Profils SIM > [votre fournisseur] > MMS
To modify your mobile data limit, go to
Settings > Network and Internet > SIM > [your operator] > Data warning and limit
This setting is only accessible if Mobile data is On.
In French that would be
Paramètres > Réseau et Internet > Profils SIM > [votre fournisseur] > Avertissement et limite de données
However, I think MMS should work with Wi-Fi even if Mobile data is off, so there may be a problem with your APN settings. Let us know. You may want to inform us of which mobile network operator you use, so that we can check the settings.
Following on that, I can only send MMS from a SIMcard which has the preference mobile data on. Without a mobile data on and with MMS option on, it still will not send. With mobile data on but with the preference for mobile data on the second SIM card, it will not send. Wi-Fi was always on, didn’t make any difference.
Edited to say that my second SIM card with better data connection does not allow sending MMS regardless the settings.
Good point. Mobile data needs to be on, and / or the setting
Settings > SIM profiles > [operator] > MMS messages (which allows MMS to be sent even if Mobile data is off).
With Wi-Fi I was thinking of WA or Signal etc.
I don’t know that OP has two SIMs, I have assumed not.
Thanks for the screenshots
There may be a problem with the APN (noms des points d’accès) at the bottom of the SIM configuration page.
An APN is a list of configuration parameters for using your mobile operator’s network. In your case, you have a subscription with TéléCoop which in fact uses the Orange network to carry your mobile traffic.
You need to have an APN named “Orange”.
Here from the TC website is the information you need.
Make sure that the values in your Orange APN are identical with those shown.
