UBS Acccess app not working on FP6

Hi all

I got my Fairphone 6 from Murena last week, and so far everything is working.

The one thing that I can’t get to work is the UBS Access app which is being used for their ebanking authentication. I’ve just had a call with the UBS technical support and they told me that “Fairphone 6 is one of the devices where we can’t get the app to work”.

I’m a bit confused by this statement. I’ve read a bunch of posts on the Murena forums and on here. According to this post [LIST] Banking Apps on /e/OS - Lists - /e/OS community UBS Access should be working on /e/os. And according to a bunch of posts on here, there’s plenty of other banking apps that work just fine on FP6, even with /e/os.

I couldn’t find a post that has my exact combination of FP6, /e/os and UBS as their bank, so I was wondering if anyone else has that issue, or knows what the issue could be, considering that the limiting factor seems to be the Fairphone 6?

I’d appreciate any help or input on this. Otherwise this post might at least be a word of warning for anyone else who has that exact same combination.

Just to be sure: Your bootloader is locked, right?
The thread you linked is the perfect place to discuss your issue I think. Would be interesting to hear from people with other devices if they encounter the same issues.

I don’t know. I didn’t flash /e/os myself, I got the device from Murena and started using it without changing anything in that regard, so I’m actually not sure how I’d check that. Do you have any pointers?

I thought about posting in the Murena forum, but considering that it seems like an FP6 issue, according to UBS (not sure how trustworthy that his) and because other people on the Murena forums are saying that the app definitely works on /e/os, I figured posting here would be more sensible.

Hello, I’m having the same issue on my FP6. It came with /e/os already installed.

I thought it was an update issue (I was on 3.02) so I updated with 3.04 but that didn’t change the problem.

To answer your question @Switch not sure if the bootloader is locked, I tried to check online how to do, seems I need to check in my phone config, the build number is “e_FP6-user somethingverylong ng.root” which, if I understood correctly, means it’s loked.

If you bought the Fp6 with e/OS preinstalled by Murena the bootloader is most likely locked.

I actually have the same problem, but with the normal Android OS. My bootloader is unlocked and my device is rooted, but there is no other app that detects my hidden root. Would be interesting to know if there are people that have UBS Access working on FP6.
Anyway this is not very important for me, UBS is a an amoralic bank that tries to make the world a worse place, and the customer support is also very bad. I will probably close my account there soon.

That’s very good to know @Kalibri, so this might very well be something basic about FP6 that UBS doesn’t like.

And I agree with you, this might actually be the kick in the ass that I needed to switch bank.

@Niroth I got them on the phone and was able to configure UBS access on my FP6! Using 3.1.3, I didn’t mention I was on e/OS or anything, and they guided me through configuring it (a NIP they provide is needed at some point)
