Any touch on the screen is without action. I can’t start the phone because it needs to enter a pin code. The issue is the same even after a reboot. I tried also to start the phone after removing the sim card … and after removing the battery. Same statement; Help ! Thanks.
She had the same issue and reported that after taking out the display and putting it back in, the touchacreen started working again. Maybe that works for you too.
While one should always try everything that is possible, I think I need to point out the differences in both cases: The linked case was a Fairphone 3 instead of 5 in this case, and it had fallen down before it didn’t work anymore which was not part of the problem description here.
Just in case it is a hardware defect you should try to backup your data which you can do by using a mouse with a USB OTG adaptor to replace the touches on the screen with.
I tried that (taking out the display and putting it back in) on my Fairphone 5 … and it seemed working, but for a couple of hours only. And the same issue reapears.
Not solved.
I do not know if this would help, but when my Fairphone 4 does not react to touch, I make sure I am holding the back of the phone with my other hand, and then it usually works. Licking a finger also sometimes helps.
Finnaly, I sent i back to FairPhone under warantly for repair. They replaced the screen. It’s now back to me … and works well !
