On my last phone I had a simple torch icon on the home screen. Torch on, torch off. No need to pull the quick access thing down from the top.
Any suggestions how I can get that on my FP5? I’m using Nova launcher. I know there are third party apps but none of them are as simple and it-just-works as that, CMIIW.

For the home screen:
you probably have to install a app to get a winged or app icon available to places on your homescreen.
i totally understand your struggle with those apps, lots of them are loaded with all kinds of nonsense.
there are better ones available, i like this one:
you can remove the advertisements in the settings and set the app to directly turn on the light after opening the app. that did work for me. no ignoring things after that.
for the lock screen:
is this option available in the nova launcher?
i expect it will. its not effected by the installed Olauncher in my case.

That app is almost the same as this (simple flashlight) but this does not have any ads (and was originally open source, fossify fork not yet out)
It can enable the flashlight when opened like the one @T4om recommended
It also has a widget that just toggles the light without opening an app. Excellent, thanks!
Dammit. The widget stopped working. The app still works, but not the widget. Removing and re-adding it fixed it…
