I feel the upcoming Fairphone 6 will be a Fairphone 6. I was excited for the launch of the device only to find it only supports USB 2.0 speeds. A standard from 20 years ago. Overall the attitude from devicemanufacturers to mostly stick on USB 2.0 speeds almost entirely destroyes the benefirts a USB Type-C port has. And destroyes the longevity of the device.
I look towards to the future and see no Fairphone 6 in it. I will predict the Fairphone 6 to be a massive flop and a huge failure. Entirely because of the USB version being too low. That is why I am calling it a Fairphone 6.
I have also read that adding the USB 3 speeds would only require a extra cost of 50€ to the purchase price of the device. And I would pay it.
The Fairphone 5 in this regard is much more newer than the 20years standard bearing Fairphone 6.
I sincerely hope the manufacturer rethinks this decision and recalls and relaunches the product with improved USB-version.
I appreciate the effort trying to make a device and your principles more affordble, mainstream and approachable. But in my view this is not the proper way to do it. Especially since you brand yourself on longevity and reuse.
