How to sync the sound volume between my fp6 and a Bluetooth device?
what exactly do you mean and which BT device?
I can’t get the volume on my JBL Bluetooth headphones to sync with the volume on the FP6.
Sync means you adjust and nothing happens? It would be good to understand what you are doing where. Also whis OS in which Version is installed?
This is marked solved, so just adding the mechanism for anyone who lands here from a search, because the name of the setting involved is genuinely misleading.
What “sync” means between a phone and Bluetooth headphones is a feature called absolute volume. When it is active the phone does not only set its own level, it sends that level to the headphones and they apply it: one slider, one scale. When it is not active you have two independent controls that know nothing about each other, the phone’s and the one on the headphones.
The part that catches people: Android exposes this in developer options and the switch is named backwards. It is called “Disable absolute volume”. Leaving it off is what keeps the two in sync; turning it on is what splits them. It is easy to flip it expecting the opposite.
There is a second cause no setting hints at. Absolute volume needs AVRCP 1.4 or newer, and on most builds developer options also has a Bluetooth AVRCP version selector. If that has been forced down to 1.3, or the headphones only speak 1.3, the two ends cannot share a scale whatever the first toggle says.
Worth separating three things that all get described as not syncing.
One, moving the phone volume does nothing at the headphones. That is the two scales being separate.
Two, the phone volume works but jumps from too quiet to too loud. That is both ends agreeing, with the headphones having far fewer steps than Android’s fifteen.
Three, it behaves until you reconnect, and then the two sit at different levels. That is not the mechanism, it is the level not being restored, and it is what the changelog line above describes.
