No, it does not support Android apps.

Just to mention (for anyone following this discussion) that on the sailfish forum it was suggested a manual way to install a newer browser base (Sailfish Browser running the ESR 91 gecko engine instead of ESR 78).

@gabs reported that he tested it on FP4

All right, I’ve switched back to Divest OS. If someone wants the last version of the rom, I can probably manage something.

server is down
only temporary?

DivestOS has ended.

Do you still have security updates ? DivestOS seems to be discontinued. My FP2 is running eOS but unfortunately last system update was on last July.

It doesn’t only seem this way, this project definitely ended … [Project Terminated] Divest OS on the Fairphones - #218 by SkewedZeppelin

But security updates are from February 2024, which was the last official shipment of such for Android 11. /e/OS continued updating for a while, but without further security updates … Week 11 2024: Development and Testing Updates - #11 by Manoj - Development Updates - /e/OS community

My FP2 has the latest version of DivestOS from December 2024. As @AnotherElk already mentioned there will be no further updates.

Another option would be to use Sailfish OS which is still maintained.

That’s awesome… Could you use your FP2 as a daily driver if you had to? And if not why not? Would it be too slow is basically what I’m asking…

It didn’t get noticeably slower since I bought it 9 years ago so I’m pretty sure I could still use it as a daily driver if needed. But it very much depends on your usage. I have never used the Google Play Store / Google apps. The apps I use are all Open Source and available on F-Droid. And I don’t have many apps installed.

But the limitation is the missing (security) updates. Since DivestOS isn’t updated anymore I did a factory reset, and don’t store any personal information anymore on the device, especially nothing where data from other people is involved (contacts, messenger, …). It’s still good for offline usage and as a backup device for emergency situations.

Seconded. It’s still totally usable if you spend some thought on which Apps and OS to throw at it.

I had /e/OS on it until the end of security update support there, and at that point I thought my battery would send signs of its end of life, too, as battery life got unpredictable and at times very short … but installing DivestOS fixed this, battery life was normal again, I could have sat out the time this way until it’s clear what Fairphone want to do after the Fairphone 5.
Just a pity that DivestOS is no more.
