Wonder if it relates to the vibration settings could previously seem to be overridden and be weaker than expected as discussed at Ridiculously bad haptics/vibration?
Will try and test later if my bug seems resolved

Just installed the recent update that was rolled out today.
The 3 button navigation is still not working as expected. The option to switch ābackā and ārecentā is still not working.
This is embarrassing. I bought this phone to make a sustainable decision, to not be one of those people who buy a new phone every year. But this is so frustrating. We are waiting for a fix for this for over two months now.
Besides that I lot of things still not work either. Apps having issues while WiFi is connected. Native camera app not persisting settings like image quality (always stuck to default size each time I close the app).
Unfortunately, this will be my first and last Fairphone if this is not fixed soon.

Yes, buy a Google Pixel. You will have the same problem. ![]()
And complain to Google that the fix is āātaking so long.

I fully agree with your points and also for me this will be my first and last Fairphone.
I used my previous Samsung A52 for 5 years, until it did not receive any security updates anymore. This was the only reason why I exchanged it. Until then it was a pleasure to use.
Strange, on my wifeās Samsung A54 with Android 16 this is working without any issues. Your answer is not very kind and not supporting the topic.
I am supporting the fair idea of Fairphone, but bad quality doesnāt have to be accepted and should be allowed to be criticized.
The battery size is still the same and also the mismatched sizes of the other elements in the status bar (e.g. WiFi, signal strength and 4G+ icons bigger than vibration, clock and 5G or plain 4G icons).
I donāt know what actually changed in the UI.
I am a bit confused. The Android 16 update hasnāt rolled out to my FP6 yet (and I know Iām not alone, this seems quite common). Will we get an update straight to this newer version or will we have to wait for the initial Android 16 release to finally drop and then wait again?
Itās a bit frustrating to be on a three months old OS build (February 5th) on a phone that is marketed as having monthly updates for years.
we cant answer and thats related to your provider (as well).
My FP3 died 2 days before my holiday. Bought the FP6 1 day before I left and have no issues whatsoever. Update to A16 went well and also no problems after the last (smaller) update.
If this continues this way this will not be my last Fairphoneā¦
But anyway, I hope your issues will be fixed soon. It really s#cks when stuf doesnāt work as it should.
The Problem with crop Pics at 2x Zoom is Not fixed too

The Reddit thread you are referring to is about a different problem (the 3 button navigation not working well at all). āMyā issue is about the switch option to switch ābackā and ārecentā which is present, but unfunctional.
Why wait for Google to fix this?
Yes!
Had a Samsung M51 and switched for the same reason, even I was completely happy.
Other Android 16 phones do not seem to have this issue.
If Fairphone wants to keep customers for the good idea and for sustainability, those kind of bugs have to be fixed way faster. I can not see any advantage of having a āfairā but unusable phone. Worst case, this will produce waste two times faster.
Also since the update few days ago, the Gallery app is buggy. The recent button now closes the whole app each time. Forced to use the back button in the upper left corner. Unusable.
For me the FP6 is usable, so while I understand you have a different experience its not in general not usable
After submitting a support ticket to my operator, I finally got the update
might be just a coincidence, who knows. Almost two months after the initial rollout, but at least everything seems to be working just fine.
I was previously stuck on Android 15, and I only got one update that took me straight to 16.61.0, in case anyoneās curious.
In the mean time you might try using āProā mode instead of the āPhotoā mode. You can leave all the settings on auto.
Update stucks on āInstalling system updateā (only WIFI) with full battery, without WIFI on 5G, says āThere was a network error while downloading the update. Please try again or connect to a different networkā
Installation problem, update engine completion code: 26
Welcome to the community.
Are you using a vpn? I have recently noticed that this may cause blockages during updates.
thanks for the welcome, negative.
Well, it might be a dns problem.
See here for example:
Itās āusableā because we have no other choice.
Fairphone needs to understand that for most of us, we bought a (expensive) phone as a one-shot buy for many years.
we donāt have the budget to change our phones, and therefore, are trapped with using them despite unbelievably annoying bugs and various code quality problem.
So no, a phone which has a touch screen failing almost ten times a day is not usable.
This cannot be called āusableā.
List of things that still not works with this update :
So no, clearly, the phone is not usable. Itās not nominal behavior for a 600⬠phoneā¦
