Software Update: FP6.QREL.15.148.0

Is there a reason why the firmware download is not provided on the support sites of Fairphone? So I could at least manually update/flash my device, even when I’ll lose all my data. My idea was, as long as OTA is not available for some users, backup my current installation, then manually upgrade the phone, root it again and finally import my backup again.

Yes, and i am surprised that as of October 25, Fairphone has not managed to Fix such a Simple but also Huge Problem.

Does someone have a download link for the OTA archive (which was around 68mb)?

I want to check if it contains a boot.img

According the logcat file which I pulled from my phone the following link offered me the download of the OTA package:
https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/package/c86dd9d6356f46493b5b97dc423cd59d48428326.zip
This link appeared in the log after trying to install the offered 148 update on my device with 105 software.

The complete firmware is now available for download from the official site:

I did not received the update :frowning:

@Fairphone_CM @michele.g
I believe there is a mistake with the SPL date given in the release note.
While the proper SPL is August, the website mentions September.

Could we get it amended?

Edited. Thank you!

A post was merged into an existing topic: Wifi no longer finding any networks

This is now the fifth or sixth time my Wi-Fi died overnight, and this time my phone died as well. From what I see, there wasn’t even any noticeable data usage, not even a gigabyte, but my phone completely died because of the mobile network connection overnight.

I take it that you mean the battery was depleted.

Mobile network connection can use a lot of power, especially if the signal is weak. Your screenshot shows 75% which in my experience is excessive. Some apps such as WA will compound the problem. You might want to turn off mobile data (or even use Aeroplane mode) at night, if possible, especially if you rely on the phone for an alarm.

In your case, the weak mobile signal makes having reliable Wi-Fi that much more important. Have you reported the problem to official FP Support?

It works now with Vodafone NL, I got the update to FP6.QREL.15.148.0 now.

When this bug is triggered, your Android system settings software cause an increase in CPU use, which drains your battery. But yes, using 5G is also more power hungry.

A post was merged into an existing topic: FP Security Updates need to be more frequent

same issue with w-lan… connection gets lost.

my fp6 also restart itself few times a day.. really annoying.

Well, here we go again.

We’re well into November, the most recent flagship phone is basically 2 months of security updates behind. No update in October after a very late update in September and absolutely no information by Fairphone.

This is getting really, really, really frustrating.

They should communicate more. All I can tell you that they are busy with some great things for the FP6. You’d be pleasantly surprised.

Communication is my day job. I fully agree. Everyone’s been preaching that for… years and years.

In any case, cool new things are appreciated. Having timely security updates is a non-negotiable necessity.

Didn’t they just last month post multiple things here about how that is going to improve? I love the device and feel good about the company but I couldn’t stop myself from posting something snarky about their soft US launch luckily being headphones and not THE PHONE THAT DOESN’T EVEN FULLY WORK BECAUSE OF A BUG in the US and Canada. :joy:
