Software update: FP5.VT28.C.042 (Android 15)

It might be back, it shows up unpredictable.

Yes

Hmm we will see for me it fixed it for the moment.

Ƅhm, no

Additional user configured look different:

The first one ā€œIchā€ is the primary android user which cannot deleted and is available on every system.

I’m narrowing it down to literally any notification coming in while the screen is unlocked.

Can confirm, I have the same bug.

You asked for configured user, not for more than one :). But ok maybe it is a problem if there is more than one user configured. For the provider problem do you try to enable and disable this option?

Yeah that was the first thing I tried. Sadly no dice

Yes, thats the same behavior I see on my FP5.

Nice, but the predictive icons at the bottom of the launcher are now broken. It’s just empty now on my FP5. I wonder if the Beta testers reported this already? Or don’t they use the default launcher? It’s also broken on the FP6, but that’s a newly released device. I still have to report these issues.

Also the Google Now widget is still broken on the FP5. Funny enough you can just remove it on the FP6 and add whatever you want yourself. Hopefully it’s a feature and not a bug.

The auto-brightness is still a mess, but on the FP6 it seems to be better (for now, this had regressions before).

This is probably my last month with the FP5, I was hoping this update solved some issues, because hardware-wise the FP6 isn’t such a major upgrade as the FP4 → FP5. So not sure if I should put much effort anymore in reporting issues for the FP5 at this point. Since I’ll probably switch to the FP6, although hardware wise not a major jump, the software seems more stable (for now). It’s a company phone, so I don’t own them. It will get a new owner

I didn’t even know these were supposed to be predictive (based on user habits?)
I just manually placed the apps I most often use.

Yes, based on user behaviour. For example if you connect a headset, your Music app shows up. During working hours, your work apps are there. After work, your public transportation app and socials are there. It’s quite good. It’s also in the app drawer at the top. That still works though.

The top of my app drawer just shows the apps I’ve most recently launched from the app drawer. Is there a setting somewhere that determines how these two rows are populated?

But don’t waste time looking, I generally prefer my own preferences to those of a machine that tries to guess …

@all could we please not mix FP6 issues in here. Thanks.

Regarding the FP5: I dont see any auto-brightness mess and I neither let the system fill App icons… I put them where I want them and they stay there.

I neither use Google Now, so no idea if broken, bug, feature or whatever I just dont see it.

It guesses pretty well

The top drawer is more like the second choice apps, the stuff you open if it’s not presented on the main workspace.

I would’ve suggested to give it a try, if it wasn’t broken. I didn’t set static apps for years. It’s smart enough to predict things based on time and day.

But you don’t use auto brightness, right? You mentioned that a few times I believe. The auto brightness is sporadic. The FP5 launcer has a baked in search bar. Mine is from DuckDuckGo, when you remove that app, you get a broken Google Now one in your launcer. This is a bug since Android 14.

I don’t want to mix FP6 with this either. But they’re on the same major Android release now and there are notable differences. That does relate to the FP5. Some stuff works better on the FP6, it would be great if this is flagged and things are working just as well on a device that has that same version.

That you use your phone differently doesn’t mean the bugs don’t exist

With adaptive brightness on, it regularly jumps to a much higher setting than I need and seems to not really want to learn from my corrections. So I often turn off AB when at home or in a light-stable environment.

For sure I do…

It doesnt matter if 2 devices are on the same Android Version, their are different devices with still different software and I dont want people to comment here further on FP6 issues, as this topic is about FP5.

For me its working very well since a long time at the beginning it drove me nuts
