Looking past the slight delay, I’m actually very impressed that we managed to get the patch level of the 5th of June on the 13th of June. I know we only have one update every two months, but is “8 days between patch level and update release” something I can look forward to for future updates too, or were there exceptional circumstances that made this possible as a one-off?

Mine (carrier Swisscom, Switzerland) still stuck at 5th of March. Really annoying. It’s honestly slowly a reason to go away from Fairphone, if the carriers don’t bother to release the patch to the Fairphone users.

Reading helps me actually. I thought there was one for May, but I misunderstood. then yes I’ll wait.

I ordered now a prepaid O2 SIM only for the Fairphone updates. In the May update thread i tested it with Vodafone and O2 … Vodafone no update since March inserted the O2 card and got instant the latest updates…

Vodafone DE actually blocks the update as of today, and that includes all providers who use its network. I have one of those as a second SIM, and had to deactivate it for my main SIM (Orange FR) to immediately find the update. :man_shrugging:

Presumably means that they are aware of a problem that they need time to fix.
It will be interesting to see if you encounter any problems when using that SIM.

Telekom.de actually blocks the update too!

I thought so too, but since it’s a personal/secondary number, I took the risk.
So far Vodafone seems to work, at least I can receive calls and talk as expected. :man_shrugging:

Thank you Fairphone for turning this security update around so quickly. I installed on the release date in the UK on MVNO spusu (carried by EE) and have had no issues whatsoever since the update. Great work!

Does anyone know, when Telekom will release the update in Germany?
I still do not get this update.

Provider: Deutsche Telekom

I’m still waiting too.

Same here (“Liwest” provider in Austria) - not sure it’s a provider thing for me, as I didn’t get the phone from my provider but rather directly from the fairphone shop…?

I got my FP4 directly from the FP-shop too. The blocking seems to depend on the SIM-Provider, not on the IMEI. Very annoying.

Yes, that is usually the case. Because of the immense variety of hardware and software and configurations used by network operators, despite the existence of standards that are not always fully applied, pushing out software updates for phones is a complex business.

Now, the question is, who is to blame…
Telekom or Fairphone…

Security is important and it seems, that the update works smooth…

I’m not happy with this situation. My phone is an important piece of hardware in my daily life. I use it for banking and sensible communication. I need the security support, I have planner with, at the time i buyed the phone.

Check this reg the FP5

Interestingly I think for the first time ever, there seem to be issues simultaneously for VF and Tekekom for FP4 and FP5. The FP5 with Telekom now got the last update, not sure about VF.

So I guess when you ask who to blame, its all of them somehow.
