Following up on this annoucement, we’re sharing a quick update on the latest software release for Fairphone 6: A.15 MR2 (QREL.15.105.0). Many of you have provided helpful feedback in recent weeks, and this update addresses several of the issues raised.
Here’s what’s included in this release:
Fixed video playback lag when connected to Bluetooth devices
Fixed issues with audio controls on Bluetooth accessories
General UI updates for a smoother experience
Improved RTT (Real-Time Text) operation during outbound calls
Security patch level updated to 5 June 2025
This update focuses on resolving some of the more immediate issues. We are of course continuing to work on the broader topics we mentioned in this update post, including performance improvements and camera updates.
Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback so far. Your input is essential.
Let us know how the update works for you, and we’ll keep you posted on future improvements.
I read some older threads about this issue…from my unterstanding the provider has to acknowledge/test the update before releasing it. Very annoying, as I did not purchase the phone through Vodafone…
I will now wait for a couple of days before I call the service hotline of Vodafone.
I have also read a lot about this.
It’s very strange whether the providers at Samsung, Apple or Google also check the updates and like to take their time?
Definitely not…that’s why I was really confused about this. Had iPhones from 2016 on and still have one right now, with the same provider (but also never bought the phones through them) and the iOS updates were always available immediately after release from Apple.
you cant compare this, so def yes provider have their part in the testing process. This has been discussed in the forum many times already and for some reason at the moment VF DE and Telekom DE are somehow “holding” updates for FP4,FP5 and FP6, read the latest softwareupdate topics for FP4 and FP5 as well.
Didn’t get the update as well. I’m on hot in Austria, which runs on the magenta network, which has ties to German T-Mobile…
Deactivated the SIM and got the update instantly after switching to my second SIM…
Went through fine and everything works…
I’ve also received the update yesterday in the (late) afternoon. The FP6 was bought from Fairphone directly and has no provider branding at all. Also my VF DE SIM has not been in the phone yet.
Isn’t the update independent from the mobile provider? I mean, how will my unbranded device know that I have a VF DE SIM if it hasn’t been inserted yet? So in my opinion there is another reason for the delay when rolling out the new release, mabe some kind of load balancing.
no SIM no Network connection no Network recognized by the phone, thus you received the update, although your SIM is from VF DE… there is no magic happening just because both things are lying around in your household together
Last night I was finally able to update the phone. For me, the Bluetooth bug seems to be fixed, and with that, the wireless Android Auto connection also appears to be working well now. However, the screen lag after unlocking is still present, and the camera still lags in photo mode. The AI photo recognition also isn’t working properly yet—especially when it tries to detect pets.I’ve also noticed that since the update, face recognition no longer works for me.
