Hi everyone,
I recently moved my SIM card with phone number +4512345678 from my Fairphone 4 to an old Nokia C1-01. I then purchased a data-only SIM for my Fairphone 4 and inserted it. However, SMS messages sent to +4512345678 are still being received on my Fairphone 4, instead of my Nokia.
To be more precise, only SMS from some phone numbers are incorrectly received on my Fairphone 4, even if I write to them from my Nokia. While SMS from other phone numbers are correctly received on my Nokia.
If I write to people from my Fairphone, they see my data SIM card’s “phone” number.
Phone calls work flawlessly on my Nokia. Only SMS from some phone numbers are causing problems.
I find this very strange, as the Fairphone 4 should no longer have any connection to my old number.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far without success:
-
RCS (Google Messages Chat Features):
In the Message app, I checked under Settings for Messages > RCS Chat Features, but I get this message:
“RCS chat features are not available for this device. No compatible SIM card was found.”
This happens regardless of whether I insert the old SIM (with +4512345678) or the new data SIM. -
Testing the Nokia:
I turned off my Fairphone 4 and sent a test SMS to +4512345678. The message did not arrive on my Nokia.
I checked signal strength, and the Nokia seems to have a proper connection.
I tried inserting the SIM in another phone, but the SMS still didn’t appear. -
Network reset on Fairphone 4:
I performed a network settings reset on the Fairphone 4, but the issue persists.
I’m struggling to understand how my Fairphone 4 could still be receiving SMS for a number that now belongs to a completely different SIM.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone have suggestions for further troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance!
