Should I contact warranty services?

Hi everyone,

I purchased a Fairphone 5 a year and a half ago and honestly I was pretty disapointed within the first few months and it has been all downhill from there

I’m really sad because I truly believe in Fairphone ethics and way of seeing the industry but I cannot lie : it’s the most expensive phone I ever had and by far the worst

Hardware (fixable with spare parts) :

  • Battery life has significantly decreased within the first few weeks (I know I could change the battery but the following software problems have kept me from doing it so far)

Software :

  • “Camera stopped unexpectedly” every few days, needs to restart the phone. The camera module works as I can access it with other apps but not with the main camera app, and not the front camera
  • Keyboard constantly closing on any apps… I’m typing and suddenly the keyboard closes and I cannot acces it for several minutes
  • When using a localisation app (any) and an audio playing in the background (any) one or both closes or stop working after a few minutes. I’m then forced to close both to get them to work again, really annoying when you are, let’s say, in a car
  • When I switch from app A to app B, then back to app A, the app has reset. Really annoying when I make a payment and have to go on my bank app to confirm only to find that the buying process has been reset entirely.

So not anything too serious but a lot of tiny bugs that keeps the phone from fonctionning properly… I feel like a lot of this issues are power related so maybe there’s not even anything support can do…

Have you ever encountered problems like that ? What do you think ?

Thats most likely this issue and a fix was released so which software version have you installed?

It can be Hardware however mabe its an App so what have you dont to investigate this?

Overall you might benefit from a factory reset (back-up impirtant data before) and set-up manually from scratch. If nothing helps getbin contact with support.

All system softwares are up to date, the bugs were there regardless of the versions

For the camera I do not have anything out of the ordinary installed (built-in camera app, instagram, whatsapp…) so if it’s an app, I really do not care. It works on everyone else’s phone, doesn’t work on mine, it must come from FP

Please check the exakt version number

I didnt mention an App regarding camera, i mentioned it reg the fast battery decrease.

So I still suggest, factory reset and contact to FP directly
