Hi everyone,
I purchased a Fairphone 5 a year and a half ago and honestly I was pretty disapointed within the first few months and it has been all downhill from there
I’m really sad because I truly believe in Fairphone ethics and way of seeing the industry but I cannot lie : it’s the most expensive phone I ever had and by far the worst
Hardware (fixable with spare parts) :
- Battery life has significantly decreased within the first few weeks (I know I could change the battery but the following software problems have kept me from doing it so far)
Software :
- “Camera stopped unexpectedly” every few days, needs to restart the phone. The camera module works as I can access it with other apps but not with the main camera app, and not the front camera
- Keyboard constantly closing on any apps… I’m typing and suddenly the keyboard closes and I cannot acces it for several minutes
- When using a localisation app (any) and an audio playing in the background (any) one or both closes or stop working after a few minutes. I’m then forced to close both to get them to work again, really annoying when you are, let’s say, in a car
- When I switch from app A to app B, then back to app A, the app has reset. Really annoying when I make a payment and have to go on my bank app to confirm only to find that the buying process has been reset entirely.
So not anything too serious but a lot of tiny bugs that keeps the phone from fonctionning properly… I feel like a lot of this issues are power related so maybe there’s not even anything support can do…
Have you ever encountered problems like that ? What do you think ?
