You can verify if you have received such update at About phone -> Android version -> Android security patch level, Vendor security patch level.

Helpfully, this info is also available when on the System Update screen - it shows the security patch level :wink:

nope, haven’t actually got the update yet, i’m unsure if you need root to access the zip file in the first place.

I got a different update url with d1e85d55938fdd545fcdc4b4b11098c5d183636f.zip at the end, taken from the logcat while checking for updates.

There is a META-INF/com/android/metadata file in the updates which indicates that both are incremental updates to version 8901.2.A.0096.20191001 but for two different build versions:

  • pre-build=Fairphone/FP3/FP3:9/8901.2.A.0095.20190926/09261600:user/release-keys
  • pre-build=Fairphone/FP3/FP3:9/8901.2.A.0081.20190816/08161740:user/release-keys

Both packages only contain a BROTLI_BSDIFF (type 10) for the boot.img.

(My phone with A.0095 preinstalled was dispatched at the beginning of November)

Huh this is odd, I received my device in October so perhaps there are small differences between devices, maybe its got something to do with the audio issue that supposedly effects less than %1 that caused preorders to be delayed. I’m interested to know what changed.

The patch level is dated September, that means that the security issues which were published in the security bulletin of Google in September have been fixed, not that Fairphone made this update in September.

Nope, Fairphone now say they are “working” on releasing all software updates including OTA’s https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032971751-Operating-systems-OS-for-the-Fairphone-3

I would definitely consider trying FP Open (don’t know it) or using Lineage. I installed Lineage on my old phone to breathe new life into it and that worked really well.
