I’ve just got a new FP6 but I can’t set it up as the screen dims in less than half a second (even less now that I manage to set up a PIN for the screen lock). The only way I can get it back to a bright screen is by pressing the power button several times, but now I’ve managed to set up a PIN for the screen lock this 0.5 sec is taken up with entering the PIN, so I can’t see the screen at all.
How do I get to Settings when I’m still in Setup mode?
It sounds as though there may be a fault with the ambient light sensor, or something on the screen (just to the right of the earpiece)
Try placing the phone under a bright desk lamp or in direct sunlight to see if the Adaptive brightness reacts.
I don’t know, never had to try. I presume you’ve tried swiping down (twice or with two fingers) from the very top of the screen?

Thank you, yes, the bright light worked.
I had swiped down but forgot to second-swipe, and only got limited settings, so that probably would have worked as well to get the brightness setter. And yes, the brightness was set to minimum.
