Screen come away from phone

Hi Fairphone Community,

My screen has completely separated from my Fairphone 4 apart from the tape that connects It. It mostly still works if I hold it flat but it feels like that could stop at any point and potentially there are other risks having it open like this.

I have put in a request with Fairphone for fixing as I am within my warranty period but no reply yet.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for 3rd parties who can fix and then maybe bill Fairphone for the repairs?!

Also, separate point but did anyone spot where the timer function on the camera went after the last update?

Thank you!

Sophie

Hi Sophie!
It sounds like for some reason the screws keeping the display in place got loose. You could repair it yourself, the fairphone is made for that, and it shouldn’t void your warranty. You can find useful guides here:

Good luck!

I guess its rather like thie

Did it come off suddenly or gradually??

I had the same issue on my FP4, the glass separated slightly from the plastic frame in a corner, this enabled water to seep in and destroy the display.

Since I need my phone and still haven’t got any answer on my previous issue I just bought a new screen and replaced it.

Did you have any joy hearing back from Fairphone, Sophie?

I have had exactly the same issue - it is an issue with the display as a whole.

Four weeks waiting and no reply.

Although the display unit is screwed in, the glue holding the glass part of the display in place failed in the heat at the end of June.

I have checked the screws holding the display unit at the back of my phone & they were in tact. After removing them I found the connector ribbon had detached, hence the display was not activating.

The display works when the ribbon is reconnected, but the glass part of the unit is still insecure making the phone unusable.

I am going to start sending multiple tickets, but may need to resort to buying another display unit despite being under warranty - Fairphone have lost my trust.

Sending several tickets doesn’t help. It only will slow down Fairphone more.

Same issue. Screws are tight (redid them even I never undid them) yet the creen is loose.
Contacted Fairphone and they marked the issue as “solved” with no communication or actual solution.
I am still on extended warranty yet i get no reply form support team.
Screen still hanging from the top side, like a flip flop phone totally exposed.
Happy to replace the screen or follow other instructions should i get any reply from the team (again, under warranty).
Really frustrating the lack of communication or support from Fairphone on this.

Can it really get slower when there is no reply? At least it might catch someone’s eye.
