I have my Fairphone for half a year now, including the FP6 protective case, unfortunately the press button on the side of the case fell out(?). Not exactly sure how it got lost, but im looking for that tiny replacement part. Any chance FP also sells those loose?
You are not the first who reported this. I strongly recommend you contact support.fairphone.com (Live Chat works much faster than an email ticket alone) and they will most likely provide a (full) replacement case.
Thank you for the advice!
I’ll reach out to the customer support. It would be quite a waste if it wasn’t possible to replace just this part though. I hope this can be an improvement that FP makes soon!
Ty again
If it helps, someone else had the same problem and created a replacement 3D print
oh, I didn’t even know the buttons were removable. That explains how it could pop out. I have squeezed the phone into a tighter pocket yesterday and that could have caused the trouble.
I will contact the support. I don’t mind ordering/paying for a spare button and maybe if it is possible to get a couple, just in case for the future.
You will get a new case from support, they don’t offer or ship single buttons. However the 3D printed buttons work well (took about two weeks before the new case arrived, so it was quicker to ask someone with a 3D printer) and can give the case a nice color touch. Nevertheless it would be cool if they could improve the case as we don’t want to put tons of volume buttons into the environment and always replace them with complete cases.
Thanks. I looked at the button that is left in the case and this is made of rubber, and I guess the 3D printed button will be plastic (clarification: personally I don’t know anyone who has a printer that supports resin printing). Maybe it would be better to print 2 buttons then so they would feel the same, and as you said then have the possibility for being of different colors :).
If I will get a new case then i will have a spare button for the future, so I am going to be okay for now.
