After using my Fairphone 2 for nearly 8 years I decided to go on now with a Fairphone 5. Now I have a problem with the transfer of an authorisation app to the new device. For this app the phones have to be connected via bluetooth during the transfer. So I tried to pair the FP2 to the FP5. But unfortunatley it doesn’t work. Both phones recognise each other via bluetooth, but BOTH phones send the same code for pairing cofirmation to the other phone with no option to input the code into the phone.
Are the FP2 and FP5 not compatible for bluetooth connection?
Thanks!
Normally you dont input the code but you confirm its the same PIN on both devices. I tested it with a FP2 with Lineage installed and it shortly connects but doesnt stay connnected, however thats the same with a FP4, so I’m not sure you can connect them as you would connect earbuds or so. Or do you initiate the connection within this App in question and not the settings?
The same what I can state with my FP2 and my FP4. Shouldn’t work different with the FP5 or any other mobile.
At first time connect a code needs to be confirmed so both partners get to know each other and are listed in the BT list.
After this transfers should work by just accepting each incoming BT stream from the partner without any code confirmation. I could test this using the Total Commander file manager.
But as @yvmuell states it could be your specific app with certain requirements to connect.
Maybe check app permissions on each mobile and not to forget BT and 2,4GHz wifi these days still can conflict in some cases which may take influence in stability.
Thanks, yvmuell and Patrick1.
I have switched off the app, and turned off the WLAN on both phones. The problem is still there. There connection via bluetooth seems to be there for 3 seconds then the phones disconnect. No problem with other devices such as the Fairbuds or the connection to the sound system in the car.
Your phone supposed to disconnect after pairing (this is how it works on my xpreia 5 and xz3, my wife Samsung s21 and my fairphone 5) and only reconnect when you want to do a transaction between the phones.
Like (share - > bluetooth) sending a picture or a file.
Hi Furdiburd, thanks for your reply.
I tried this. And, yes, a picture transfer is possible if I allow the transmission on the receiving phone. But if I use the app I got no message for confiming a connection on any of the two phones. So it seems to be a problem of the app and I have to ask the support there.
Can you export the authorization-key(s) to a file? That’s afaik the standard-way.
Sorry for my late answer. I was on travel.
I solved the issue with ordering a new code for the app.
Now it works. Don’t know if this was an unique problem between Fairphone and this specific app.
Thanks to all for your help.
