I just recently updated my fairphonr 4 to android 15 but I noticed camera access is no longer in my quick toggles or in the privacy controls menu of privacy and security settings. I use this to disable phone wide camera and microphone access until I manually allow it each time. Has this been removed from android 15 or is it just fairphone? And is there a way to get it back?
It has been removed and no unfortunately you can’t bring it back. Google removed it btw.
But that feature still exists on the fairphone 6 (android 15), why would it be removed from a specific phone only when both should have the same android version
It is just what I read earlier:
I can confirm that. Odd arguing by FP…
On my FP4 there is a tile called “Device controls” but it’s disabled and non functional.
On FP6 with A15 both Mic and Camera tiles are available.
FP5 on Android 15 (latest update, SPL 09/25) has the two tiles as well
Oh well thats frustrating. Why did google remove it and not the microphone one also, strange. I did find the sensors off before I posted this, guess I’ll have to stick with that or eventually flash a ROM ![]()
Apparently the issue is more complicated than that: If both FP5 and FP6 on A15 still have it, the statement that it is gone and can’t be re-added is wrong. ![]()
Basic logic says that either it has indeed been removed by Google but Fairphone can re-add it, or that it hasn’t been removed by Google at all. Apparently Fairphone_CM was misinformed.
The (cursory) Internet search I did speaks about Chrome (the browser) getting its “camera tile” removed from photo picker in Android 14. Nothing about Android 15. Does anybody have some information about A15?
In Chrome (Version 142.0.7444.480,
com.android.chrome) an icon is present on the search bar. From there it’s possible to gain access to the gallery and the cam. As I don’t use chrome I’ve revoked all rights and didn’t go further.
