Phone not connecting to mobile network - antenna issue?

Hello, my phone keeps having issues connecting to my mobile network. I try switching it on and off, and eventually after 30 to more minutes, it finally gets it.

I am not sure if the antenna is an issue and if it can be repaired?

It has the same problem whether I use a physical SIM card or a esim.

No issue on wifi

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!!!

Hi, welcome to the forum. Have you tried the suggestions on this page?

https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/9498003764113-Troubleshoot-the-mobile-data-connection

I know the article specifically mentions mobile data issues, but it’s worth trying for general GSM issues as well.

Thanks a lot for looking into this!

I have tried pretty much everything that article said… created a new APN, selecting network manually…

Nothing really works. It works sometimes. Can’t really find a pattern. it will take forever to reconnect after I lost network (I live in a remote area) or after plane mode …

Any other idea?

hello

have you also tried changing the network type?

If you are still not connected, try different connection protocols (5G/4G/3G/2G).

Does it make any difference?

Are they both from the same network operator?

Hello @Meaghan

Changing network type first do anything…

And I have the same issue with sim and esim from different networks.

If I try to manually choose the network, it sees it but doesn’t connect to it.

And then suddenly it connects.

I’m not sure if it’s a software or hardware problem …

Perhaps this helps; set your SIM card to 4G/3G/2G.

None of these work…
has anyone tried to fix/replace the antenna in their fairphone?

Hi,
I have the same issue, exept that the phone never connected again after updating to the newest Android 15. I tried everything that is mentioned here.
The SIM Card is recognized, but the phone shows no telephone number.
The solutions I tried:
-changing the network type to 4G or 3G
-using an eSIM, using a new physical SIM
-Flight Mode On/Off
-changing the APN to Standard (German O2)
-starting the phone in failsafe mode (Abgesicherter Modus in German)

Has anybody another idea, exept sending it back to the manufacturer?

Hello
Have you tried contacting the provider and/or running the troubleshooting via the self-repair portal?

Thank you @Meaghan for answering this thread, I have just discovered the self-repair portal, AND the fact that my fairphone is still under warranty, and that I possibly could get it repaired! Thanks again!
