I have set up limited notifications when the phone is locked, but when i unlock the phone I can still only see the limited notification (app name, and how many notifications from said app) it also behaves like im still in the lock screen, i cant swipe to dismiss them or click the arrow to expand them, only after i click on one of them the phone realises that it’s unlocked and start showing the rest of the notifications normally
Can you share screenshots of your notification settings? It gives people some more insight what is exactly configured and what you’re trying to do. I don’t think you can dismiss notifications from the lock screen though.
I’ve had the same issue for some time now. It’s really annoying.
I have Fairphone Gen. 6 with Android 16. Everything is up to date. This did not happen at the beginning. I think this behavior started a few months ago.
Here is what happens:
- I receive a notification while screen is locked.
- On the locked screen, only the apps and number of notifications for each is displayed, as wanted (this is what I have configured)
- I unlock my phone with fingerprint
- Notifications contents are not displayed. If i tap the arrow to unroll it, nothing happens. I need to tap the notification to open the app to see the content of the message.
If instead of 4. I unlock the screen with my pattern, it works like a charm: I can see the notifications content.
Weirdly enough, when these notifications content look “locked”, if I turn on then off Airplane mode or switch on and then off “Do not disturb” mode, e.g. with the switch button, the notifications contents are unlocked.
Also, tapping on a notification to open the app not only removes this notification but also “unlocks” the other notifications contents (if any).
It looks as if unlocking with fingerprint does not “completely” unlock the phone, at least when it comes to notifications. I need to do something else to unlock them, like turning off/on something or entering the unlock pattern. Very very weird and annoying.
Before you ask, I tried changing a few options already but nothing works. In the unlock with fingerprint menu, unlock phone, confirm identity in apps and ignore lock screen are all enabled (not that this changes anything, except unlock phone, obviously).
I’m not fully sure I understand your desciption, however I use the fingerprint to unlock and I see notification details.
Maxbe thats the root cause I can see the notifocation text on the lock screen as well.
Either way when its so annoying get in contact with Fairphone amd the only way to do this is support
Yes, I do not want notification details to appear on the lock screen. I ticked the option to hide conversations and silent notifications on the lock screen. However I’d like to be able to see the details once I unlock the screen with fingerprint.
Yes I should bring this up to Fairphone. I’m suprised I could’t find other people affected by this.
Just checking: Have you enabled Notification history
Settings > Notifications > Notification history
If enabled, past notifications can also be accessed from a button on the Quick settings / Notifications pane. History is conserved for 24 hours.
Sorry for being unclear. In the end I can manage to see the notifications details: I just need to tap on one, or lock my screen and then unlock it without using my fingerprint. It is just annoying that I have to do so: unlocking my phone with my fingerprint should be enough.
I understand now, thanks.
And welcome to the forum, by the way ![]()
Thank you for commenting this, it made me realise of a faster workaround.
Basically you don’t need to unlock with pattern, you just have to turn on the screen before unlocking with your fingerprint.
There is some sort of bug when you unlock your phone without the screen on that makes the notifications think your phone is still locked
Thank you, you’re right! I hadn’t noticed that. So it looks like unlocking the phone with fingerprint without first waking it up to the lock screen is buggy.
