No Network Vodafone Germany Fairphone 5

I got a new Fairphone 5 last week and I can’t get any network with my Sim Card (Lidl mobile=Vodafone, Germany). But it does recognize the Sim Card. There is an exclamaition mark next to the connection bar. In my old phone the Sim card is working just fine.
I already tried different things without any results:

  • I restarted the phone multiple times
  • I removed the Sim Card
  • I tried the Sim Card of my friend (same provider)
  • I used the Fairphone Troubleshooter (nothing found)
  • I got a new Sim Card
  • I tried to change to 4G-3G-2G
I also contacted the support, but haven’t heard of them yet.
Do you have any more ideas I could try while I wait for the Support?
    Thanks for any help!

No network or no mobile data? For mobile data check the APN (Zugangspunkte) are correct.

No network. It says “No network found. Please try again”

Hi @M_M,

welcome to the community form,

sorry to hear you have struggle to get the Sim-cards to work.

it sounds to me the Sim-cards is not yet activated by your provider.

sometimes you need to do a couple of staps to make the sim actief. check the package of your sim card for the instructions.

i tried to find in on the internet but could find a website for Lidl mobile.

have you contacted you provider or Fairphone?
i think Fairphone will not be able to help you, i think your provider will.

maybe the next links will provide some helpful information:

Greetings

Tom

The Sim Card is active, I use it in my old phone and it’s working just fine.
I already tried everything from the links you send me, nothing worked.
Contacting the provider is a good idea, I haven’t done that yet. Maybe they can help me. I will let you know.
Thanks for now.

So to ensure, you did check the APN?

I checked the APN and I’m not able to change anything there. It’s not letting me.

So the provider replied that they checked my Data and everything is fine. They suggested that I should try the Sim card in a different phone… Like I said, I am using the same Sim card in my old phone without any problems.
So it seems to be a problem of the phone and not the provider.

Just to check. Does an another SIM card from a different provider work in your phone? The SIM card should be not older than 1 year.

Are you able to add a new APN using the + ? Important whrn you entered data you have to save using three dots

I will try that. Right now I just checked with a Sim Card of the same provider.

Edit: I tried different providers and Sim cards - same result, it’s not working at all

No, that’s also not working.

Edit: now I was able to add a new APN, unfortunately it changed nothing

Well then thats blocked by Vodafone and in my eyes to be fixed by them…overall you are clearly not the first and only Vodafone FP5 user and should work in combimation

edit: sorry, i dit mis read, my post is a duplicate.

Hi @M_M

That must be very inconvenient.

is it possible for you to try a simcard from a non Vodafone network provider in your Fairphone 5.

Maybe a phone/simcard store nearby is kinde enough to help you.

Please share the results of the test.
That will be the only way to rule out if your phone or the provider/simcard is faulty.

strange no issues here on Vodafone NL.
Maybe a Vodafone DE issue?

greetings

Tom

No what I meant was they are not the only or first VF Germany user and indeed its no known issue

About Vodafone DE: I am using a prepaid version of Vodafone DE directly and everything’s working fine.
Here you can find some information about Lidl APN. Should be the same as Vodafone

Thanks, I already tried to set the APN manually. As I don’t have any network and can’t even make phone calls, internet connection is not the first priority. Setting the APN manually didn’t fix the network problem.

Have you tried enabling Roaming? Sometimes there is a thing called “local roaming” (that is when providers share their network).

Yes, I also tried this.
