No Music Playback via Bluetooth, Calls Still Work

Hi everyone,

I’m having the following issue with my Fairphone 5 with the latest Update on A14:
I can make phone calls via Bluetooth without any problems, but music won’t play through my Bluetooth devices anymore—no matter which device I use (e.g., speaker or car). Calling (hands-free) still works perfectly.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Re-paired and restarted devices

Tried different music apps

Unfortunately, the problem persists. In the Bluetooth settings, the device is shown correctly and “Media audio” is enabled.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this? Are there any known issues, maybe after a recent update (e.g., Android 14)? I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions!

Thanks and best regards!

Chris

Facing similar problems as Chris. I just bought a Fairphone 6 e/OS, can connect to my Teufel speaker through bluetooth, but no sound, though in Spotify it says that my phone is connected… . Connection to my Naim Unity set is wholly impossible… Any ideas?

Eh…Restarted my phone and suddenly everything OK..

Hi,
Could you state your build number?
Your FP5 should have updated to A15 if recent update.

Welcome to the forum btw :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, I tried A15 but then was my phone bricked, but fortunately it’s working again.
That’s the reason because I’m still on A14

Build Number is
FP5.UT2Q.B.125.20250605

Did you have the faulty Fingerprint sensor problem? Just for the background.

Yes, it’s not working anymore

Best to follow this advice and open a ticket. As we’ve seen, if uncorrected this bug may cause other problems.

Thanks, it’s works again on A14 but still no sound over bluetooth.
I already opened a ticket.

Same here. Bluetooth audio streaming is buggie. On my JBL wave flex pods there is no automatic streaming.

The work around I found is: when connected the pods I switch off and on the HD-audio while streaming music and then it seems to work.

Earlier there were no issues

Hope it works and helps

Thanks for the tip Erick, but unfortunately it’s not working with my phone.

I also have the same problem. I thought it was me and I installed a new music app but same issue, then realised it must be the phone and found your thread. I’ve raised a ticket, let’s see. I have found that it works occasionally, if i play on speaker then connect my earbud (via blutooth). but keeps dropping off after a few songs. Radio / podcasts work just fine, no issues.

Hey everyone,

If you’re on Fairphone 5 with Android 15 and Bluetooth music playback stopped working on your headphones (calls still work fine), the culprit was Bluetooth A2DP Hardware Offload in Developer Options for me.

Quick fix:

  1. Enable Developer Options (Settings > About phone > Tap Build number 7x).

  2. Go to Developer Options > Networking > Toggle Disable Bluetooth A2DP Hardware Offload (or “Turn off A2DP Hardware Offload”).

  3. Reboot, re-pair your headphones.

Music plays perfectly now!
