My phone suddenly stopped working - just black screen

Hi today my phone suddenly turned off. It was with almost full battery.
I had some issues with charging before, the inside part of the charging port is a little broken but it was charging. I don’t know what happened today. Now when I started charging there is no light signal for charging, it just vibrates once or twice and the FAIRPHONE sign appears but then it disappear immediately.

Unfortunately there are now quite a number of recorded instances of apparent motherboard failure upon FP3 after 3Yr. which is of no consolation to you:

Hey there,

does the phone end up in a bootloop when you try to charge it? For sudden death there is usually no response from the phone whatsoever, no vibration, no screen output. Can you enter the fastboot mode (Vol down + Power) and charge it like that?

Clemens

Hi,
I also do not think of sudden death as described in the thread linked, because the phone does react to being plugged in. It may be a bricking situation, or a full memory. I suggest you reach out to your local angel and see about changing the bottom module, and trying to go to fastboot.
Good luck

yes indeed, i have what looks like a sudden death, and if the phone vibrate, pretty sure it still works in a way.
I m not very experienced with FP3 but i made it work again a few times just by mounting dismounting the bottom module and maybe the other ones. Also i damaged the usb plug by cleaning it with a thin metal brussels and cloth stuff but the cloth broke. I think i would do that with a cut/thinned toothpick now

My FP just had what looks like a sudden death, it s only 4 years old. I m very disapointed with that lifetime duration for this was supposed to be the main point of buying a FP …
