My FP3: 6 years and counting

Hello Everyone
It is this jolly time of the year to ask for a badge.
Here you can get one for your FP3 (if it’s still in use :flexed_biceps:t2:)

If your device is younger, but older than 3, you can look through the forum to find a relevant thread and claim your badge.

Enjoy

Thanks for the reminder and topic, it is this time of year indeed.

Now 6 years, still daily driver, still /e/OS.

Happy birthday to my Fairphone 3! It turned 6 on November 6th :birthday_cake:.

A month ago, the screen went black… but nothing a screwdriver reinstalling the screen module couldn’t fix.

It still has its original battery (and all original modules), and it still responds smoothly enough for my day-to-day use

My FP3 turned 6 on 20th November. I installed a replacement battery a few months back but, apart from that, it’s the same as when I got it.

My FP3 was first used in November 2019 Happy Birthday!

It’s kinda on its last legs from a performance POV with regular lockups, especially after rebooting or when flipping between battery saver, normal and charging modes but it’s still plodding on. This helped a lot though: Fairphone 3 Poor performance, fixed!

On second battery and I’ve recently started having to charge it again in the evenings so I probably need a new one soon. (The previous one ballooned eventually!)

Hang in there little phone! :mobile_phone:

also still on FP3 :man_raising_hand:now with Android15, and as happy as on day one.

updates: always went smoothly.

battery replacement: yes.

screen replacement: yes, once.

bottom module replacement: not yet (but have one in my “FP basket”, just in case).

camera: not that great, but… :backhand_index_pointing_down: :slightly_smiling_face:

no plans to replace it anytime soon (unless FP comes up with a smaller phone in the future)

Apologies, but could you please specify the starting date of your FP3? As I can see, you have been on this forum much longer than (humbly) me, so I might be missing the data.

hi meaghan, no apologies, please

I got my FP3 at the end of 2019, but I did not keep record of the exact date. and yes, I had the FP1 and later FP2 earlier. actually I had 2 FP1, which I gave away to friends who wantes to test FairPhone - my incentive to buy a FP2. this oldie is still functional but the battery is poor and I didn’t check for security updates since, hm, 2021.

wish you a good - and longlasting - experience with your FP! cheers, christoph

I got my FP3 on Nov. 9th, 2019 and it’s still in daily use, so I’d be happy to receive the badge :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’m gonna tweak the performance once again, but I’m not entirely sure I’ll be able to claim my 7-year badge next year. Got a good ol’ phonecall today, I’m happy that it rang at all, it took several seconds to appear on screen, and again several seconds after I accepted the call, I just had to keep saying “hello?” as I couldn’t know when the actual call was established. But that’s the fate of modern electronics, 6+ years is a nice lifespan already.

Actually I’m more worried about the vulnerability of today’s electronics and online systems, both in terms of hackers / spies / malware / surveillance and in terms of physical sabotage on cables, servers, clouds etc., I’m keeping a battery-powered radio just in case

Hello! I got my FP3 in Oct. 19. Still perfect, only one battery change, a blue cover and recently a new moss green cover, that’s it :+1:t2:

Seeing this thread, I just want to mention, that on Nov. 06, 2025 my FP3 passed it’s 6th year of life, having only replaced the pumper to a protective case and bought a new battery, both in 2025.

This FP3 is still my only, daily used smartphone!
